My JBA 1 3/4 longtubes and catless Y are going on tomorrow, as well as a ATI Underdrive pulley, and a clutch fan delete,. I got the SRT 6.1/6.4 metal gaskets to go with it. Can't wait ! :D

We need an update with pics:happy107: I got my KOOKS back from coating and they are going on next weekend. I really excited :love51:
Are the SRT gaskets that much better than what comes with the header kit? Kooks sent metal gaskets and stage 8 locking bolts with the kit.

The OEM 05038099AA (left) and 05038098AA (right) are considered superior to all the aftermarket header gasket offerings.

Last time I did a set of headers was on a mustang - had to check the bolts monthly for tightening- seems they always loosens up with my aluminum heads.

That is one the advantages of the OEM gaskets; if torqued correctly the standard SRT 13mm bolts do not come loose :^)

Well, i started my truck yesterday and then had to get out of it to run back inside and noticed the dreaded hemi tick.
My guess is that since it's been so hot (windows are staying up) and i generally hop in my truck and go, i just haven't noticed it.
This might accelerate the decision. I guess i'll go have the dealership fix the bolt (i'll hop under there tonight to take a look since the sound is on the passenger side) when they do the rollover recall fix. From there i'll look at doing the headers.
From a stand point of being able to put it back to stock, i've put shorty headers back on the list since they are direct bolt-ons so i can remove them if i ever go to sell, but the coating information has been really good.

:naughty:

The OEM gaskets worked very well. No ticks or leaks from the first start up.

Looks very nice, beautiful!!!... Any tips to share? Getting mine in this weekend, only concern I have is at least 1 broken bolt. Got a good extractor kit but worried my drill will be to big to fit into the tight space.

This is why i'm going to have the dealership fix mine under warranty and then i will install headers.

Not really. Go ahead and unbolt the steering knuckle before you think " oh that will fit ". It won't go in without unbolting the knuckle.

This is just an FYI. The header gasket that came with the kooks kit is Cometic multi layer steel gasket. Anyone ever use a gasket like this?

The MLS gaskets that come with the Kooks headers are good quality, very similar to OEM. It's the compression gaskets that come with other brands that you should try to avoid, MLS is the better gasket material to use. That, and a good set of header bolts like Stage 8s.

I installed ceramic coated headers on my 73 440 cuda, and they looked great 10 years later. Just make sure they put the thermal coating on the inside of them. And always use oem gaskets when installing them.

That's exactly what the OEM SRT 6.1 gaskets look like.

I went with silver ceramic bbk

BBK (40140) 1-5/8" Silver Ceramic Coated Shorty Tuned-Length Exhaust Header for Dodge Truck https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007V97KKG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bPAzzb2JE1AG4
And then the stage 8 bolts and oem gaskets. Hoping to get installed this week or next. I bought he damn things end of march but haven't had time. I went silver to hopefully prevent rust we shall see.

What about the rivets on the gasket? I'm assuming they will clear the head surface?

Is there any way I can get away with not putting on the retainers and clips with the stage 8 bolts? Or will the header bolt back off and get lose?
