So I got new tires recently, 275/65/20 and I am already tired of the inaccuracies the extra inch is causing. Speed, Odometer and MPG reading.

In researching it seems like the only way to get this fixed is either the +$200 "speedometer calibrator" which I feel is a rip off of major proportions. or a true tuner box, like the DiableSport for somewhere around +$400.

I don't really want to spend my money on either so I need to be convinced. Anyone wan't to take a shot at helping me spend my money?

2014 Ram 1500 Sport.

Diablo i2 w/ Hemifever Custom Tune - $469 shipped through Moe's

-30 hp/tq to the wheels
-Increased throttle response and drivability
-About 2mpg increase in mileage
-Speedometer corrected for tire size
-Free updates from Hemifever as you continue to modify your truck
-Single best bang for buck mod you can buy

That pretty much sums it up. If you were only going to buy 1 performance part for your truck, the tuner is that 1.

How does it deliver 2mpg and 30hp? Does it have quick change settings? Example would be I'm hitting the highway so I need extra MPG mode or, I want to be an ass on the streets and up the HP even more?

What is the real world, seat of your pants impression of a tuner like this? Can you actually tell the difference?

So many questions, sorry.

The more aggressive 93 octane tuning actually gives better mileage gains than the economy 87 octane tunes. This means you get the best of both worlds all in 1 tune.

Real world seat of the pants is that this is the single best mod you can buy for your truck for performance. No other bolt on part will give you the power gains that you will feel from the custom tuning.

Interestingly I already run premium as I didn't like the knocking/pinging going on with regular gas.

Can't believe I'm about to spend $469. I have to think about this a bit more.

2mpg is about 13% efficiency gain. 13% less gas used is about $32 a month. 14.6 months payback on this. Huh.

Dont buy the tuner for the sole purpose of mileage gains. I say about 2mpg because most guys will see anywhere from a 1-3mpg gain. I personally picked up 2mpg, but I have had many customers give feedback of anywhere from 1-3. The power, drivability, responsiveness, and ability to correct the speedometer are bigger factors to me than the mileage gains.

Do what you want but the 91 hemifever tune makes the ram alot more fun to drive. It's a completely different truck

Will the dealership see it even if you remove it to take truck in for warranty issues?

Yes and no. The PCM will show that it has been flashed, but it won't say Diablo. If you are concerned about your warranty, then it's best to load the tuner and then put it away. If you change tunes every week, it will throw a red flag for the dealer. If it has only been flashed once or twice, they won't think anything of it.

Convert, for now.

small
Especially with recent smaller recalls, they may not think twice on why its been flashed.

to bad you are so far away as I have a new (never used) Diablo top model. I bought it for my 14 Sport but then went and bought the 15 R/T so it does not compute. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Just do it man! Lol

Seriously though, I doubt you'll be saving mpgs when you get the tuner... The truck becomes that much more fun to zip around in, so you'll be doing a lot more zipping. IMHO :)

What if you use your truck to tow every now & then.
Are you suppose to change tunes or do the factory set tow buttons still effective for transmission with tunes?

The Tow/haul function still works with your new tuning.

I've yet to get a straight answer to this question
Can I put this tuner into a 4.7 litre?
Everyone only talks about their hemis.

Yes, Diablo does offer 4.7 tuning. What year is your truck?
