Difference between Carven-R and Competitor?

I know that the Carven-R is the muffler in the competitor series, but what exactly is the difference between buying just the Carven-R muffler vs. buying the competitor series kit? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

What i'm referring to: Carven-R Performance Muffler - Performance Mufflers - Products

and

2009-2017 Ram Truck Direct Fit Muffler Replacement Kit

The muffler by itself needs to have pipes cut and welded. The direct fit bolts in place of the stock muffler and can be installed with hand tools.

It depends on if you want to have something you can direct swap in your driveway, or pay a shop to weld it in for you. The kit is a good diy option.

Would a shop even charge that much though? Would it not be better money wise to only buy the muffler and get a welder to weild the muffler in?

If you have dual outlets you'd also need a y pipe. Here's a couple pics of my swap. The kit comes with everything you need. Someone else might chime in on cost of having it welded in.

i think i have the single in dual out, i guess i'll just order the full kit.
