Headers. Will they work?

I recently found out my 2013 Sport has a manifold leak due to a broken bolt. Took it in for warranty and found out it was a Canadian truck (no warranty).

Needless to say, the ticking is driving me nuts. I can't stand having what I consider a "nice truck" when it sounds bad?

My question is: what is everyone's personal opinions on headers for the 5.7 hemi?

I would rather just replace the manifold with headers since I'm going to be spending a decent chunk of money anyways.

I have found cheaper $300 headers in eBay. Along with OBX and other brands.

Has anyone ever used the eBay headers? Any luck? I know what you all are thinking... just looking for some input.

Thanks all!

Feel any low end torque loss with shorties?

I'm also running bbk shorties with full bolt ons and 321 gears. I don't notice any loss in the bottom end.

Machine Shops can fix bolt issues, with either headers or stock manifold.

Thanks, you probably have 8-speed trans with that 3:21 gear, would be more noticeable with 6-speed.

I had the same "Canada issue" so I did BBK shorties and have not noticed any loss of power.

By the way it was up to the dealer to disclose to me that is was a Ca truck and they didn't. So I pressured them and they paid the labor for the install.

Thanks guys.

I was quoted $550 to replace just the bolts on the original manifold and that was only for the broken ones. I figured if I installed long tubes or shorties, that I could spend right around the same and know the bolts are going to hold up.

Any input on the eBay headers?

$550 is outrageous for a few bolts. As for the ebay headers, only a few have tried them and they all failed within a few months. Usually the welds break at some point. If your looking to just fix the truck I would buy the bolts and do it yourself. For a performance bump get LT headers; cheapest I would go is JBA but you'll need a tuner And a custom tune. The shorty headers wont be anything worth it; blackramhemi did shorty's and they dyno 8 HP. Not worth it in my opinion.

if you are patient and have a bit of mechanical aptitude you can find that bolt and drill it out enough and get a left handed drill bit to catch the hole you just drilled and it will come out easy peasey!!! but for headers i got the long tubes and they are a big difference in sound and performance, if you just want that fix to stop the ticking go with shorties and i would suggest JBA short tube headers, they are a very nice quality and the price is fair. at the end of the day you get what you pay for

You guys rock. I knew $550 was outrageous for the bolts and that's why I'm exploring all options.

It just made me question if I just replaced the bolt, what are the chances it happens again and I run into the same problem? That's why I asked about headers.

Sounds like shorties are a good "fix" without much power gains. Are people needing a tune after the shorties due to increased airflow or just the long tubes?

I just put shorties on and I run a hemifever tune. My tune did not change from manifolds to shorties per Sean. With long tubes you could throw codes so the tune will fix that. Get the oem gaskets and 6.1 bolts. You'll never have to worry about bolts again.

I have full bolt ons so it's hard to say how much gain the headers alone gave
