I consciously try very hard not to let my truck idle much. I take one of my other vehicles if it is going to be a short trip or expect to get stuck in traffic. I rarely let it warm up for more than one minute.

It just turned 10k miles today and I happened to look at at the hours... I am surprised and definitely don't feel like I spend more than 10% of my total time idling. Anyone else care to chime in?

I'm with you, I don't like unnecessary idling. I was raised with my dad telling me not to just let the car idle. Never questioned why. To this day, it bothers me deep to the soul if I sit and idle for one reason or another. I'd rather turn off my truck than sit and idle. I see service vehicles/police vehicles just sit and idle and a part of me wants to run over and turn the vehicle off. having said that, I haven't checked my idle hours.

I about have a total melt down when I'm synchronizing my carbs on my motorcycles. I have to let them idle at about 3000 rpm until its heated up and then quickly go to work. by the end, I'm going crazy, about to say "one minute to Wapner" or "kmart sucks".

oh, and go inflate your dang tires to 1000psi so the low tire warning light will finally shut off. I hate that we can't reprogram those things

Yeah, I put 35's on recently and their max psi is 65. I found the sweet spot is around 50. I haven't had to take the truck to a dealer at all yet. When I do, hopefully they can fiddle with the limits. There is a thread around here somewhere with the procedure.

Holy cow son, 130 hours of idle time, I thought my 64 hours were a lot in 12 thousand miles.

Wow. When you change your oil, do you have it analyzed? It would be interesting to see what effect fuel dilution has on it with that much idle time.

well my idle hours just started working after a flash, BUT my drive one reset and stopped.
Dealer is working with Chrysler on a star thingy, a program is all I can figure.
Some how the flash screwed up or didn't take right or something
BUT HEY
now my engine off options can be set to 10 minutes and stay instead of defaulting back to 45 seconds.
This after 3 years.....lol

Was always wondering. Not that I let it idle much, but zero - really?
Should I be concerned?

Not that it will make it run any differently, but I'd have them fix it before your warranty is up. It's also odd that there is no total hrs.

If that is accurate, and you maintain it properly, I'd say you'll win one of the longest lasting hemis out there! Impressive.

Isn't idling good for warming up the vehicle? I use the automatic start all the time so I'm pretty sure my idle hours are up there. Lots of traffic too I'll have to check and report back

Mine generally hovers around 10%. If I didn't have to unlock/lock the gate at the shop every day it might be slightly lower.

They say it's generally better to drive easily vs idling to warm the vehicle up. I tend to agree. I wait for the idle to come down to 1k or less, then go. Less than a minute.

I'm not a gas idle fan. If I had a programmer with a high idle tune, were I could advance the idle up to 1100 rpms I would feel better.

I like keeping my Oil psi above 45psi at all times. That way I know I'm getting good oil flow to the top of the motor. Just an OCD with these lifters.

Bought mine in Jan 2016 with around 290 idle and 560 driving hours.

I'm now at 311 idle and 793 driving with almost 23k on the clock. Guess I don't like to idle my truck very much.
