In my 2013 RCSB Express with the Hemi, I'm averaging around 11.4mpg. In my opinion that's horrible.

I don't take off from lights, I coast to them. I do 90% city driving. My right foot stays out of it and about 3/4 of my trip to work and back are on cruise control at 45-55 mph. My round trip for work is about 15 miles, give or take depending on route taken.

Mods, I really don't have anything engine or lift wise, just an 18" Magnaflow muffler welded in. I have the 3.55 gears in my truck as well. I use 89 octane gas.

Please, any advice would help. Thanks!

How many miles do you have on it? And how much idle time do you have in city driving that makes a huge difference.

Damn! Forgot to put that. I currently have 4900 miles on it. Idle time is very low as I time it right in the morning with lights. Maybe 1 to 1 1/2 minutes a morning. Evening is about 3-4 minutes.

Give it about 15,000 miles before its really broke in to see true mileage. I wouldn't expect more than 15mpg with all of the city driving you do. Also with only 15 miles to drive you are not warmed up good for most of the ride and aren't getting optimal fuel mileage for most of your drive.

I'd be happy with 14 mpg :uhoh2: Usually about halfway through (depending on the weather) is when the gauge says I'm warm but I don't completely trust that.

The couple of times she's seen the highway, I get only about 16-17 maybe. So, I dunno, I guess it's just a wait and see game. Thanks!

I had issues staying above 12ish around the city. Just sucked gas. I also had 3.55s so it was working harder.

Are you in rollin hill country or is it fairly level. I found I got better MPGs just holding mine down in 4th, no OD (I only had 5 sp) no MDS

Level. I only go over one bridge, less than 1/2 a mile. Mine's a 6 speed so I dunno if I should try that and see? Lol. Just thinking in Higher gears it would be better MPG.

Try driving around in tow haul mode, shuts off MDS and puts truck in right gear so your not bogging down everywhere.

Mine was like that when I got it 15 months ago. It now has 6093 miles on it, and it seems to be getting better, as I am averaging 15 mpg combined now (actualy, mostly city, but some highway)

Yeah. That's how it seems. I guess I just have to put more miles on it to see. Hopefully it gets better.

We get about 12mpg around the city, and rarely better unless we add a long highway trip and baby it. I think for some of us that's just the way it will be. I can't comprehend some of the near 20 mpg figures guys throw around here.

Tow/Haul no longer disables MDS in the 2013. It just changes shifting.

My 3.6/8spd has a little over 1100 on it now, averaged about 20mpg when I picked it up at the dealership in Post Falls and drive back across WA, now that i'm in town its averaging about 14.8-15mpg, mostly hilly city type driving. Hoping it picks up a bit as it breaks in, that 32gallon tank is a bear to fill up! Dealership filled it up form nearly empty and I'm not letting it get below half unless I have to!

on my 11 crew with 3.55's i average 12.6, thats with mostly city driving.

Im on 20 inch rockstars with 35 inch MT's sitting at 9.25 inches lift and a 50x50 roof rack with another 300 pounds of crap on the roof.

I hope to raise that a wee bit more with 4.10 gears in the next month or so.... hten it will go back down next year with hte 37's

Here is a link to my fuelly ive been tracking the fuel ups since the day i bought her, have a total of 13945 miles logged, will be adding another fuel up today after work. if you scroll around on the site you can browse other peoples trucks and see the averages of model broken down by year. for the 2011 rams the average is 14.6, so for my mods i dont feel im doing to bad :)

Since when? Mine definitely doesn't kick on when in tow/haul mode.
