2004 QCSB hemi 98k miles 4x4 on hard turns, (full left or right lock) it makes a rattleing sound, more high pitched than a cv axle (i think), it sounds like a heat shield type rattle sound, but i dont have one with the new headers. any ideas, it doesnt change with engine rpm, and the sound gets less frequent the less sharp the turn it, does it more turning left than right, i cant feel it in the steering wheel, dont rattle on bumps wile driving(that i can hear) and dont do it driving strait.................im lost.

maybe check your fluid level? i hear the 3rd gens have a history of leaky steering. if your fluids are low it makes that sound. if it is low, just add some fluid that has a leak stop in it.

could jack the front up and go from there. see if you can recreate the sound. also see if its the tierod. try to pull/push your tire while its off the ground and see if it moves any. just dont pull/push too hard.

I would start by checking the tie rods and the sway bar endlinks/bushings.

Mine did this after my header install, check the alignment tabs, mine were gouging into the header causing that rattling, grinding type noise.

It might be the dust shields for the calipers/rotors, my old dodge did that on sharp turns and it took forever to figure it out. Just had to bend them back out away from the rotor/caliper and ta da!! :D

well put the truck on stands, and put it into a hard right turn, the right side cv axle looks to (move around) a little and that is were it sounds like the "clicking is coming from........ so 65$ from auto zone. do i need any thing other than the new cv axle, (seals, fluids) and what not, the other one does not appear to move. wha causes these to go..............im almost never in 4x4

im at a loss here guys, i took everything apart, the cv joint has no play, the bearing spins free, but it has a little play to it. i dunno wtf it is. if its a bearing, y does it matter what way im steering, if its the cv joint, y dont it do it wen i turn the opposite way. its more of a rattle. and y does it go away when the truck is warm......WTF is going on
