Anyone have any experience with Belltech's 2/4 drop? I just ordered one and am hoping I didn't make a mistake in going with the Belltech rather than McGaughy's 2/4.5 drop. Any info concerning either kit out there? Thanks!

You have to give more than 12 hours, especially 12 hours Sunday night for replies young padawan.

Belltech is a quality manufacture. What does the drop kit consist of?

Coils and a Flip kit?

Sorry, the kit just arrived here and I want to get opinions before I tear open the box and ruin any chance of returning it for the McGaughy's kit. It consists of 2" drop spindles up front and a 4" flip kit in the back. I've heard issues of the drop spindles causing the wheels to stick an extra half inch out.. Any truth to this?

Yeah, they do cause them to stick out a little. I noticed it more when I had 22s vs oem 20s

I've got the OEM 20's with 275/55/20 tires on them. I'm just hoping it doesn't ruin the fender edges on bumps as I don't have them rolled yet.

You should be good with 20s, I never hit in the front anymore. But when I had 22s I jacked up the fender wells big time. Just get some Belltech Street Performance shocks.

Yeah, I had planned on buying the shocks. I've also heard it's a good idea to weld up the leaf spring perches? Seems easy enough to do and it'll sure save a bunch of trouble down the road if something ever did come apart..

Welding the perches isn't 'a good idea' it's required.
I don't give a crap what the instructions say. DO IT!

(Might have experienced personally what happens when you don't)

I can see absolutely no reason to send back the Belltech kit vs the McGs.

Well, just tore into the box.. turns out they sent me the coil spring drop kit instead of the drop spindles.. time to wait another two days for the correct kit to come in :bs:

Belltech doesn't make a spindle kit. Only McGaughys offers spindles for the Ram trucks.

I found this out the hard way.. long story short, confusion was started during the ordering process. New McGaughy's kit will be here tomorrow!

Well, that definitely proves its worth it to take the time to weld them! While I'm at it, is there any tricks or issues you guys have run into while installing the McGaughy's kit?

Only real issues i had were getting the original springs out and getting out the factory leaf spring bolts and shackles. The leaf spring bolts i had to cut with a torch and replace with new stuff. Front springs i ended up unbolting the sway bar links and loosening the lower control arm bolts then a long pry bar to basically have them come flying out.

If youre going with a spindle drop in the front then air tools will be your best friend to get the nuts off the ball joints. Collectively it took me about 4 hours start to finish using a lift and some basic tools.

On a recent drop thread on one of the forums there was a discussion of what to weld. The individual had added a weld to the oem perch that we see broken on the previous post to prevent it from lifting. I choose to tack weld the flipped perch directly to my axle which in my opinion is much stronger and is the procedure most often done.
