So I've got an 06 with factory fogs and the way the switch is set up from the factory my fogs can't be on without my headlights. However my dad has an 07 and my buddy has an 08 and the other day I saw an 05 and they can all run fogs without headlights. Is there anyway I can set this up?

stock should be set to allow them on when the parking lights are on. Are they OEM, came from the factory with them?

Yes they're oem Mopar factory lights (I have the build sheet) the fog switch is under the rotary light switch. It's a factory rocker switch. If you look on your dash on the left side under the light switch you'll see a smooth block off plate. That's where my switch is

well....something doesn't make sense.

The OEMs use the factory headlight switch for this.

From 2006 to now if you bought a truck with factory installed (and even dealer installed) fog or driving lights the computer must be programmed to allow them to work. It has something to do with the can-bus system. I had this problem when I switched to fogs and got rid of the driving lights. Had to take it to the dealer to have them set it to the fogs would come on at any time.

So I just have to go to the dealer and have them activate them as fog lights and then they'll work any time as long as the parking lights are on

Last time I had a VA state safety inspection The inspector said my fog lights were illegal because they were on without the running lights lit. I told him I had a stand alone switch to operate them. He said they were suppose to only be on with the low beams headlights and running lights. I use my fog's as DRL and won't have them turned on the next time I go in for an inspection.

My 05 came with no fogs. I installed OEM lamps and wiring as well as a W/fogs headlamp switch. Turned the switch and they worked.

As far as I know, the fogs don't have a stand alone switch...
