Has anyone installed a 85mm or 90mm throttle body? I dont know if the performance gain would be worth the price.

theres a smidge of better performance, but most of the change is throttle responsiveness. not worth it until after some other mods if you ask me. its one of those mods you do to "squeak out that final bit of oompf"

It would be intersting if someone could post real number comparing the often used modified OEM TB (84mm) with a stock TB Or a modified engine with a 90mm TB. It is one of those things that has to be complimented by the other mods. Bigger is better until it is too big. figuring out the too big is the question. lol....

You 2 seem to know the most about everything I ask, so instead of posting I can just ask you on this post. What have yall heard about the TCI torque converter for our trucks? I know when I put one in my 01 Mustang it made a HELL of a difference in acceleration. And the extra 1000 rpm stall would be nice on the track

I have a fastman 85mm ported TB. Overall power is not much difference. The main diff is it seems much more responsive.

As far as the 90mm, IMO it would be a waste of money as long as you have the stock truck intake since the opening that the TB bolts to is 85mm.

As for if it is worth the money, I would not pay for a new one. I would check the forums for a used one to come up for sale and get it then.

I ordered my Ported TB from Moes just as Aaron said to compliment my other Mods which are coming to an end soon (4:56 Gears Next/Last w/LSD)

I like my TCI Breakaway and it definately gave an increase in Torque to the wheels, but with that my wheel spin has increased and my 0-60 time has suffered. I haven't redone my times since and won't attempt it till the gear install. The TC performs even better with the Crazy Spartan Cam than with the 6.1 which is a bad combo if your runnin 3:55 gears. The Guys here will recommend the Circle d or APS precision and like you when I asked no one on these forums seemed to be runnin it. For me it was cost and availability in Canada and I am pleased with the results vs investment.

For the TB go with a fastman proted TB and enjoy, it'll make it a little more peppy around town and give you a much better throttle responce. Anything bigger and you'll need more work done to make use of it.

For converter, I like my aps but want to move to a circle d as I have heard they are much better at getting rid of the parasitic loss to the wheels. So in order I would put circled up top follwed by edge/aps and the tci, but its your call there

I enjoyed the throttle feel I had with mine (on my 08) and if I would have known that it would fit my 10.....I wouldn't have sold it! :(

I have a fastman and like said above it only helps part throttle feel. WOT is still WOT but you will be flowing a **** hair more air. I love mine and had to replace mine any how so it was a no brainer to buy one from him.

As said above, this is a driveability mod. I like it though and would definately do it again.

The ported tb is a nice mod. It isn't a huge gain but you can feel it when driving aroun town.

in my opinion you dont need it

i switched from a ported to a stock and look at my sixty foot 1.66 with a stock throttle body

sorry but ported is only needed with big mods and even then is iffy

90 mm is the most pointless mod for any 5.7 hemi because the hole behind it on the plastic intake manifold is only 85 mm

so an 85 fully ported is the only way to go in my honest opinion

I run the Fastman TB and didn't feel any difference when I installed it. But with that said I do think it contributes to the overall tune of the engine. IMO, each mods either adds or subtracts overall. Our job is to add the right pieces to the package to support the specific purpose of our individual rides..
