Hi, I'm new here but I've been visiting the site for information for quite some time now. The reason I'm finally posting is to get some thoughts on an exhaust rebuild I plan on doing in the near future. Here's the list as it stands now-

Pacesetter long tube headers
Pacesetter offroad y-pipes
Stage 8 locking header bolts
Oem gaskets
Cherry Bomb glasspack

Would this be a good setup? My main concern is if a glasspack would provide enough backpressure given that I won't be running any cats.

Also, does anyone have experience welding aluminized steel? I've read that I'll have to weld bungs onto the y-pipe for the rear O2 sensors.

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The list looks good so far. What other supporting mods do you have? Also, will you be eliminating your rear o2 sensors via tuning, or are you just going to hope the non foulers work to keep the check engine light off?

Also, this setup is completely bolton, so you dont have to weld it if you dont want to.

Thanks for the reply

I just got a superchips flashpaq, and I'm planning on putting a K&N intake kit on before I do the exhaust.

If I can eliminate the rear 02 sensors with the programmer I'll do that, I'm just not sure if it has that capability.

The Flashpaq is a great tuner, but it wont allow you to disable the rear o2 sensors. You are going to need some non foulers, and cross your fingers that they keep the codes away. It is hit and miss with non foulers...they work for some guys, and dont work for others.

That's kinda disappointing, especially for the price of the tuner. Hopefully the non-foulers will work for me then, otherwise I might have to figure out a way to put the factory cats back on.

Thanks again

My only concearn is if your gonna get alot of popping through the exhaust with no cats and glasspacks with a canned SC tune. You might feel a loss in low end also being a free open exhaust on a stock cam with the lift so just keep that in mind.

The stock cats can be opened up to 3" and welded to the Pacesetter y-pipe. There are many guys who have done this to save the cost of buying high flow cats.
