was driving my dodge and all of a sudden it started making a noise and slowed down, pulled over and waited for a little while and it would no longer move, now the check engine light is on.

No where near enough info provided to render any help at all.

Does the engine still run?
What kind of noise?
Did it feel like the transmission was slipping, or rpms and tranny output weren't matching?
