EGR delete question

Is there any benefit to deleting the egr? As far as performance. I searched but it didn't find anything for me. I have a superchips tuner and I don't know if it has the capability of deleting it or not. But I will get a hemifever tune one of these days for this truck.

I'm on my phone so I all I can see is that you have a hemi. First off you will need a delete capable tuner like h&s race mini maxx or xrt, smarty or race me. Although some people have said that they were able to just unplug the egr w/o a tuner. Second you might see a little performance and a slight mpg increase. Deleting the egr is more of a engine "saving", for lack of a better term, mod. It stops exhaust gasses from being recirculated back through and possible other issues that could occur. If you plan on deleting the egr you might as well delete the dpf pipe. A tuner or Sims will allow for this.

Never thought of egr delete would increase mpg but you may increase chance of detonation under load.

Superchips does not have the option to disable the egr sensor.

It's a good thing in the diesels, it's a so-so mod on the hemi, more appearance than performance. The only one you can truly delete the EGR on the hemi is on the pre-Eagle as it has an external valve and tube. Billet Tech makes a complete block off assembly for the head and the intake manifold.

The early DS predators could disable it, but they removed this feature back in '06 when they saw the writing on the EPA's wall for the 'offroad use only' emissions crackdown.

I did it a while back, no emission inspection here so figured what the hell, plus I couldn't get the system to read ready for the actual plug in test we do have. Hp increase is minimal and not really noticeable, mpgs stayed the same. You do need a tuner with that has a custom tune ability to get it turned off though, as of now the only ones I know that can are the Diablo tuners and sct tuners with a custom tune.

The only reason I've seen to delete the EGR is if you're having excessive carbon build up issues for some reason.

They covered just about all of it. Mainly cleaning up the engine bay unless you have alot going on or if you pull your valve coveres a decent amount and its one less thing to do then.

I did it for looks an to see if it helped with the oil consumption. Having that metal tube run over top the passenger valve cover just looked like ****
