Are you using the stock LSD?

Um...I guess. I have to admit, I am not very well versed in the whole gear thing. The truck is an 06 1500 4.7 4x4. So idk if it has one or not?

If you have the stock factory limited slip then the pin will have to be ground, if not then I think you are good to go.

Gah I was thinking this but didn't want to say anything... The stuff in this thread seems like something most 'professionals' would know.

Well, no where in the directions did it say anything about grinding anything. And, to their defense, they aren't a 4x4 shop.

Directions?

I'm not going to judge... I wouldn't have known that stuff needed ground out till I read it here.

I was going to suggest the grinding, but obviously I'm late on the scene for that.

Dan...I'm not sure about these guys putting in your gears. If they have to go by directions, what's to say they are going to get them setup right even if they can get them in the housing?

I put 4.56s in my '04 at one point and had a guy do it who never did aftermarket sets (so he did 3.92 and below) and they howled like mad. I know there are settings like backlash and such that have to be right or you will tear the gears up.

I would tend to believe that there is no way of anyone knowing that grinding the housing for Motive 4.56 gears was needed on later model 3rd gen Dodge Rams unless they read the forums on a daily basis.

Gears are in! So far so good. Have noticed a significant increase in mpg and low end power.

Good deal, make sure they put the right gear fluid and friction modifier in.
