I am wanting to do a cam swap. i have been looking at the comp 260 and 268. which is the better for torque in a regular cab.

Are you up North, Canada? I got a used Crazy Spartan on 114 LSA with about 6 K miles I would consider selling, otherwise for Sc i vote 268 with CMR Tune!

Its a tune made for you and your mods. The 260 will be a good stoplight cam, the 268 will have more power mid to higher up but would want a stall. Ryan is running the comp 268 in a RCSB ram but he is a 2WD so alill lighter. The issue im seeing is your other thread said your gonna want to run 37's right? Thats gonna want more low mid end to get you moving so your gonna have to give up alill bit of topend power.

If you are going big tires and are a 4x4, the 260 will work nicely. I have the 268 in mine and lowend is roughly about the same as the stock cam, the mid to top end though is a night and day difference. The 268 needs to be tuned so if you do not have a DSP or SCT already you'll need to pick one up. The 260 on the other hand can run on a Superchips tune and being an 04 I believe that Superchips has the trans control as well so you can set shift points and all that fun stuff, DSP on the other hand does not support the trans on the 04's.

My vote for your application would be the 260 over the 268 if those are the two you have your mind set on.

Danny's crazy spartan with an advanced cam sprocket would get him gobs of trq along with a good mid range and upper end, hell as it sits would be a good cam. You will need 6.1 springs and rods along with a new cam bolt and crank bolt. Im running the same cam but on a 112 LSA, my power band is alill more narrow for my app.

On the 260, will there be a change in the sound, loop etc, was also thinking about doing this and was wondering what would need to be done and how much it would run and if this can be done by someone who is somewhat mechanically inclined.

Well depends on how far you go to install it. I think total was right around a grand with all the gaskets, springs, rods, bolts, oil, radiator fluid, cam and tuning for mine. It can get pricey, which if you are looking to do one I would highly recommend picking up the parts needed little by little, so your out of pocket cost wont hurt near as bad and you can be sure you have everything before tackling the job.

Yes, replace all the springs with the 6.1 exhaust springs and push rods. However, if you go with a regrind, you may need custom length push rods.

^Ya mean intake? If so your talking about a new front cover along with other odds and ends to pick up some peak HP but drop out on TRQ. Thats a very pricey mod but gotta say it looks good. D on here has done that to his RCSB.
