i have the headers, exhaust, and love the way my truck looks on the outside, but she is still inhaling through the stock hat, so my question to the RAM gods out there, if you had 300 for a intake, what and y. i was leaning towards the k&n, but nots sur the diff between metal and plastic. and i told her id make one, and she replied youd relly put poop pipe on ur "favorite woman" :naughty: Thanks again

if you wanna blow all $300 on just an intake, get a vararam. If it were me, i'd use some on a homemade intake and use the other $250 on something else.

Do you not have a programmer?? I'd be usin the $300 on a used programmer if it was me. screw the intake

can get a vararam for 300? and im suprized how expensive so many places are for the k&n all over 320ish, but i looked at the airram sight its only 260 not bad, or spend 160 on a spectre and put a k&n on it, and my buddy at work, hees on here some were, xpstt500, or sumthin like that is lettn me use his sct 3865 till he can update it to his 09, i tried the 93, (awsome) but i drive ALOT the mileage tune does nothing and the barley noticble diff with the 87 tune isnt enough for me to buy one, maybe one day, but for now i realy wanna intake

you'll see better mileage from the 93 tune actually. the 87 is only good for the rare chance you're stranded for gas and can only fill up with 87.

What are you looking to gain from an intake? better mpgs? better performance? Either way the tuner will be a much better investment than the intake. The intake will only give you maybe .5mpg increase at best. A tuner is known to give between 1-2 mpg along with a bunch more power.

Keep your eye open for a good used intake. They pop up every once in a while and will be half the cost of a new one.

Ditto, buy a used one. But for a 4wd IMO the drop in K&N filter and I think it is a AirRam pipe kit to remove the Hemi Hat.

From memory it would look like the oil fill is covered and changing plugs would be more of an issue. Im assuming it dosent have a whole lot holding it in place and the tubes come off pretty easy just havent had my hands on one to know for sure.

Have to take it off for plugs. Oil fill you just need a funnel, no need to remove

If you like the Mopar one then just pick up a Specter with the heat sheild and swap the filter and paint it like you already said. You will prob be more happy with that in the end if you want to still be able to see the engine.

If your engine is not built (internally at least) then putting 93 octane in your tank is a waste of money. You may see a couple extra MPG but its not worth the 30+ cents per gallon your putting in. Your truck is made to run on 87 Octane, keep using 87 and save yourself the money.

93 octane is for high performance...... 4.7L is not a high performance engine unless you put plenty of money into it. You will not detonate with 87 octane, so honestly thats what you should be using. If you tune your truck to a 93 octane tune and you go into sayyyyyy Arizona, where we dont have any 93.....what now??? Better have your tuner on you or a lot of octane booster.

There was an article/test about this, I will have to find it then post it. Pretty much your truck is made for 87 octane, putting 93 will not increase power output.
