Do what I do in situations like this. Start by letting the air out of the front tires. If that doesn't work, remove the hood and have a wrecker come over and lift it out with the boom winch.

I'm not sure I am agreeing that a regular hoist won't work.

You sure can rent them. Go to a rental yard, crank one as high as it goes and take a measurement.

You won't need to move your truck while you pull the motor, so pop the wheels off and set it down a 2x12 when you're ready to yank it. That will give you more than enough to get it out.

OTC typically makes some of the best tools out there but you'll need to check with a local rental store to see what they carry. Taking measurements is an excellent idea.

We pulled mine end of last July. Dan yours is 2 wheel drive right? You wont have to deal with the BS bracket that the 4x4s have for the trans and motor and front diff asm. You can yank it out in bout 5 hrs, less if you have had the front out before.

What I did on my lifted 73 when takin the motor out was take off the front passenger tire, and set the axle all the way down on the lowest setting of a jack stand. Took off the fender on the passenger side and took the motor out the side instead of up and over the top. It worked out A LOT better IMO. If you dont want to mess w/ ur fender, take off both front tires and set the axle on jack stands...

Dan do what I did and pull the tires and lay the truck pretty much on the ground with the lift holding the truck. Do everything you need from the bottom then put it on the ground.

The truck was up alill in this pic but you get the idea. Ram Tech will know if it has the same support for the mounts for a 4.7 as the 5.7 that were a PITA on mine.

Gotcha, I was thinking this was a little risky with SEMA only a couple months away.
