04 Quad Cab Hemi - the exhaust has rusted to the point of open holes before the resonator and between it and the muffler (that pipe rusted all the way through and was repaired, but apparently only kinda fixed).
I'm the atypical Ram owner, I don't want the truck to be loud. What is the quietest muffler I should choose that won't hurt performance or mileage? How much should it cost to replace the system at a place like Meineke or a local muffler specialist? I'd just as soon avoid getting ripped off.
Thanks!

I to have a 2004 4 door hemi 1500 Ram. I went with Thrush daul exhaust. Has the proper rumble during idle and acceleration. Have you done a search for eom exhaust?

Walker mufflers are pretty quiet. For a muffler, new tailpipe and tip it should be in the area of $400 or so depending on shop labor rates in your area.

Have you called around and gotten quotes?

Rock auto has a full exhaust kit for under $300 I think, and welding shouldn't be that bad. Clamps work if you're not too picky.

No quotes yet, just found out this afternoon why my truck was louder than I am used to.

So probably a little more than the $400 since it needs work done upstream of the resonator as well. That's tolerable. Thanks!

I actually don't want the "proper rumble" - it's a lovely sound, but I have a hearing problem and the exhaust note along with road noise is perfect to drown out everything else.
Is eom a brand?

I think he meant oem (original equipment manufacturer) aka dealer parts.

The longer the muffler you get the quieter it will be. If you want a decent tone but not stupid loud, get something like an 18" muffler. Resonators will quiet it down too.

That's what I thought, but searching for eom exhaust actually brings some stuff up. It's mostly motorcycle stuff, though, so I'm not sure.
I would *like* complete silence out of the exhaust. I know that's not reasonable, especially without compromising performance.

Sorry, just read what I typed. OEM. I went with a custom exhaust because I wanted true daul exhaust and less back pressure on my exhaust system.

Perhaps you fellows can assist me. My wife has a 2006 Durango, gold color and I am wanting to purchase oem color match running boards. I have searched and thinking these might be discontinued from Dodge. Any suggestions where to look?

Pretty sure my truck has a walker muffler on it, cause I haven't seen any Chrysler numbers on it. It's on rock auto for under $100 I think (it's the big one), and you can get the accompanying pipes. My truck is relatively silent. The only noise you hear is engine noise while driving, no exhaust.
