Hey everyone just joined the forum. Been looking around for a bit.

I bought my ram about a month ago and would like to add keyless entry and remote start to my ram. Also I would like to stay OEM if possible.

So is there a way to add these options?

Thanks

It would be best to check with your dealer before purchasing. You should find out I'd they will do it and how much they will charge.

I checked with a local dealer. They said for the remote start kit and installing it they would charge $399.

That's why I am curious about installing the kit myself then going just to get thentruck programmed.

Anyone ever done this?

399 isn't half bad for a dealer install, I actually thought it would be more.

Hey,

I got a used key fobic from a dodge challenger.

Is it possible to have it activated for my RAM ST?

I figure I will need to replace the key inside of the remote. Do the used remotes need to be unlocked?

Key fobiks cannot be reprogrammed. Once programmed to a vehicle, cannot be programmed to another. I researched this through Chrysler resources and that is what I have found. Bummer because I have a pile of fobiks that are useless from doing mopar remote start installs on 2013 chryslers.

Personally I would let the dealer install that one. With all the body control modual wiring that you need to tap into its worth it to have a warranty on it. The other thing to think about is distance you want to be able to start your truck from. Aftermarket will get you a greater singal range but it defiently doesn't integrate like OEM does.

^^ I am looking to have an autostart and alarm system put into mine, $700. But it is a mile range system similar to one that I had in my old truck. Don't take me as average though, I have to plug my truck in during the winter...
