Well, I'd like to go pull mine out myself, but got my wisdom teeth yanked the other day and just want to get better, so I'm not moving, just dreaming of truck stuff. So, does anyone have a picture of the factory 4th gen sub box out of the truck?

Thanks,

O' toothless one

Here some pictures from another forum

And from the user that posted these pictures on another forum

"The stock Alpine subwoofer is a dual two ohm voice coil unit sized at 8" in diameter. The entire face is 8.5" and it's 4" in depth.

Two remove the subwoofer from it's box, you must remove the Torx head bolts which are sized at 25. Then, remove the two 18mm bolts holding the box into the cargo tray. Unplug the box, flip it over, and remove the phillips head bolt on the bottom of the box. Turn the box over and remove the subwoofer by disconnecting each of the wiring harnesses.

In my opinion, the plastic box is not suitable for a stronger subwoofer. It will just resonate and flex and the mounting ring is paper thin. The stock Alpine subwoofer is appropriate for this type of enclosure and any need to add more or a different style of bass response should be handled by a different amplifier and subwoofer/enclosure. Could we get a link to the fox box? Is it a direct replacement for 4th gen trucks? I have a quad cab with the Alpine system.

I'm a BIG fan of the MTX Thunderforms.

Heard one in a 2011 recently - with the powered sub - and it sounded great. Significantly better than the OEM. Looks very nice too.

I don't think the single cabs got a subwoofer with the alpine system...

I have the MTX dual 10's in my truck, and I love the box, unfortunately I blew 1 of the subs last night. Guess my RF Punch P500-2 was a lil too much now with a dedicated battery connected to the amp..
Ive heard the Fox boxes and the Pro boxes, I would love to have 12's but the rear seat has to be raised and the box sticks out a lil from under the seat. I wanted stealth is anyone looks in my truck, they dont know anything has been installed.

Good luck, and dont forget pics.

Would the sound be a big difference if removing the subs. I kinda wanna put my tools and what not under the seat. But if it makes a big difference maybe I shouldn't.
