Stereo freezes then resets

Hey guys. I have a 2016 Hemi 5.7 with about 6500 miles on it. Just this morning on my drive to work the stereo (which is the UConnect 5.0) started having an issue. I was listening to SXM radio and everything is good, then I go to change the volume and it changes but the volume numbers don't display. I then try to change the XM channel and the it responds to my touch and moves to the preset button that I selected, but it doesn't actually change the station. Then I try to switch out of XM and into regular radio using the actual radio button, not the touchscreen, and nothing happens... After that the touch screen stops working entirely, music keeps playing this whole time by the way, and eventually the whole thing seems to reset and power cycle itself.

It goes black, comes back after 20-30 seconds, shows the RAM screen, then the usual warning screen where you have to touch "accept" and then goes back to the radio like normal. At first after the reset everything is working fine so I figured it was just a random thing, but then it does it again. And again. And again. In about 5-7 minute intervals it keeps going through this same process on my entire drive to work. I stopped halfway and turned off the truck entirely and then back on seeing if that would help but it kept doing it.

Anyone every experienced this or had something similar? Is there a hard reset or something I can do? Obviously I am under warranty still and can take it into the dealership but figured I would ask around first to see if it is just something minor I can fix on my own.

had the EXACT same thing occur this morning on my way to work. radio randomly shut off and then came back on after nearly a minute or so. I also have a 2016 5.7 17k miles.

Check the thread in audio and electronics. All us 5.0 guys are having this issue

Wow this eerie! Mine did this this morning. I have a 2015 5.7 CC with the Uconnect 5.0.

I've had some pretty severe glitches with my radio/computer/infotainment center at times. They usually work themselves out after a couple "episodes". Once some of my SD card media would cause the whole system to freeze anytime I tried to use it so might take note if there is anything new in those slots (does the Uconnect 5.0 even have those?). Cheap/crappy SD cards and thumb drives are notorious for causing havoc with computers. I ended up taking mine to the dealer and they did some flash/update and it's been fine ever since.

Mine did the same thing this morning. 5-6 times it cut out and then reset itself. Didn't matter what it was on am-fm-xm happened during all formats....

Wow. Same truck. Same weirdness. It cleared itself up later this morning. I'll check into it too.

Per Andrea of RAMCARE it was a update issue with SIRIUS/UCONNECT and was fixed at 1PM EST! Now to check m mine

This condition was caused by an update to the Satellite Radio signal, that the radio could not handle. As of 1:00 PM EST (January 30, 2017), the situation has been resolved and your radio should function normally again.

Your welcome . I know you are busy and things can get lost with all the threads here ! But your info saved us all alot of worry ! The plus side is I stopped at mt dealer to get info on this and they wre on top of it ,But will cost me some $$$ On Monday as I am getting my back up camera installed lol

same thing started on our 2016 Ram and is still doing it...started 4/29/19

Had similar problem my dealer 2 times checked and couldn't reproduce the problem so they say. They told me to bring the 2016 Laramie 5.7 8.4 radio with nav to another dealer just like that.I was shocked after buying two other Rams from this dealer. So I called another dealer and a service tech took a ride with me driving and guess what he said the radio has to be replaced and its under warranty still by two months. So FCA is shipping this dealer my new radio to install where my dealer told me to take a hike. Persistence pays off also my truck has 13,700 miles on it

I am having this exact issue right now. Took to dealer and no help there except quote for new radio. Tried all the resets to no avail
