If for some reason the next uconnect update for the Rams does not enable carplay, would it be possible to install a 8.4 head unit from a Charger?

No, the UAQ/UAS have hard mounts cast into the radio casing, different then the ram mounts, and there are some features that are not working correctly. The ram AUX/USB hubs arnt USB 3.0 which is required for car play, and the radios require the hub out of a charger/challenger/300/pacifica for the carplay to work at all.
