Well, after much deliberation, it's time....

I am starting the install tomorrow evening and hope to have her done by next weekend. I am figuring somewhere in the 40-45 hour labor time frame.

First she will be deadened with some CLD tiles from SDS. Then will come some 1/8" MLV equivalent, then 1/8" CCF. This will be done from firewall to back wall, outer door skin, inner door skin, and door cards.

Then, we move to the front doors. New wire and 1" recessed MDF baffles for the midbass. Along with some extruded butyl rope spaced out along any crossmember and side impact protection beams to let any water drain.

Then to the rear doors. Same as the front, using 1" recessed MDF baffles for the rear comp set. Butyl rope for impact beams, etc.

Once all is deadened, and door speaker areas are done, next will be the wiring. Two, 5 channel amps will be powering the complete system. Every last wire, RCA, connector, fuse, etc will be only the flagship line from JL Audio.

Once wiring is ran, soldered, heatshrunk, etc. the carpet will go back in along with all the door panels, A, B, C pillars, and back wall pieces.

Next will be the new kick panels to house the front comp sets. They will be modded and connected accordingly.

Finally, the new dash speakers will be set into their new home.

Sub box goes in next. drivers seat (the only one that matters), then the tuning begins.

A couple shots of the equipment..




I started last night with disassembly of the interior. Cleaned up the metal to get ready for sound deadening. Also started mocking up the baffles for the 8" midbass.

Wow. I wish I had the nerve for a build like this.

So......15 hours in so far.

Used some SDS CLD tiles wherever needed to dampen vibration..



Modified the stock 6" x 9" holes to allow for the 8" to fit..



Used some butyl rope on all crossmembers and support beams to help any vibration from that. Left gaps to ensure water drain..




Deadened the outer and inner door skin with CLD tiles and installed the baffles for the rear..




Same on fronts..



Added CLD tiles to floor and rear wall areas where needed. FYI, Dodge actually used quite a bit of factory deadener in mine as well, dunno if it's because it's a diesel or what.










So that's where I am at so far..




Almost forgot. All the new door speaker wire has been ran as well.


And this is what I am working on now, but I think I am about to call it a night. Started the CCF for the rear driver door..

I am lucky to have such a big shop to mod in...........errr, I mean work in..

Wow a lot of work but it is comming along nice.

Well decided to take it a little easy today, but still managed to get about 7 hours in. Total time so far....22 hours.

Started the day by mounting all the door speakers and crossovers..






After that, I decided to start running wire and dressing it in. Cable tie o' plenty..





I have run out of the blue wire loom so I will have to hit the store tomorrow. Also the new Coustic crossover should be here tomorrow as well. I am hoping to get at least 3 hours on this per day this week and hopefully finishing Saturday evening.


Then Sunday, it's onto the "other mods" I have planned. But at least I will be able to mod with some tunes.

Crossover arrived Monday..




Installed 1/8" neoprene to floor and back wall. Did a little mock up placement of equipment and dressed in a few more wires. 27 hours in..











A little more dressing and the carpet will go back in along with all interior panels except the kicks. That's next...
