I'm curious if a 4.7 from a 2008 ram would be an easier upgrade to a 2002 ram that also had an 4.7 than a hemi swap? Since they are both 4.7 engines would have to replace the computer as well?

the actual engine will physically fit but i think the wire harness will not. i think there is a difference some how...the engines are different. there will be a lot of modifications to the wire connectors.

So it sounds like all the same work that would go into a hemi swap? pointless then to do a another 4.7 unless I would have to change out the tranny on a hemi as well. thanks for all the info. Not something I really need to do I was just wondering if my engine fails what direction would I go. Thought the newer 4.7 would be a nice upgrade over the old one but seems like a lot of work as well.

The trans will work, just needs a bracket to go from 4.7 to 5.7, also a cable operated TB.
