Well, the Superchip auction didnt work out :/ so I think I'm gonna skip that for now, and get an intake and then maybe...just maybe..a set of headers :) My next mod for now is goin to be a CB Radio. I bought a used Cobra 40-channel of a buddy of mine and I'll be gettin that this Saturday (5/21). All I need to invest in now is an antenna. Im prob either goin with a tool box mount, or the magnetic. Is anyone usin a CB out there? If so, what kind of antennas do you guys have? Im lookin for some ideas for mine...

Well I run a cobra 29wx. Good radio for me. I have tried all kinds of spots for the antenna. Ideally you want it on top of the cab but that limits the places you can go and as I was in and out of parking garages for school all the time I had to always relocate my magnet. On the bed corners is pretty good. But I found what works for me is on the drivers side rear bumper.

The antenna is a Diesel 3' Antenna. Now you can get way super technical for radio antennas and frequencies and stuff. But for me this setup is great! Low profile stays out of the way and gets ok range.

For your intake the best thing for our Magnum engines is the 14x3...I have been running one since April and I am super happy with it...

I would recommend to take that CB in to a CB shop and tell them you want it peaked and tweeked ... they will know what you mean .

As for antennas I run dual firesticks . Have used and recommend the Wilson 5000 if you want to run single . I run a custom built cobra with external linnier for extra range .

Thanks Dave. My dad actually has a 40 channel Cobra like yours and he also runs a Wilson 5000. Its a nice setup, however he has the antenna magnet-mounted on the roof of his 04 Ram 2500. Theres been times it has come off if he hits a low branch over the road, and it also hits almost anything he goes under lol.

And Adam, I thought about doin the 14x3, but i think the Spectre Im lookin at is better bc it sucks in the cold air right from the fender as oppose to the 14x3 just pullin in the hot air from the motor.

And last but not least, Tony lol idk if id like the antenna on my bumper. Ill prob mount it to my toolbox or the bed corners like you said. The roof would be best, but id like to keep it out of the way. My truck already has a 5" lift, so the antenna would really stick up high up there lol

I think our magnum engines benefit more from the amount of unrestricted air flow the 14x3 offers rather than the cooler air pulled from the fender well...

Yeah they might. They sell intakes on Ebay that go from the fender well to the TB and they come with the TBS for like $80 i think it was. Might get one of them but im not sure yet.. Have to look into it a bit more

The Spectre won't pull any cooler air than the 14x3. I have a Scangauge2 that displays Intake Air Temps using the IAT sensor. The dinky heat shield it comes with does nothing in the way of heat protection, not to mention the aluminum tube of the spectre will get so hot you can't even touch it with your hand. The best bang for the buck is definitely the 14x3 with a k&n. However, if you want a nice CAI setup look into the S&B or Volant. To me, the S&B is the best because it flows just as much as the 14x3, but with the same temps as the stocker. It is about a 40 degree difference at idle, once you get moving the 14x3 is only 10 to 15 degrees hotter than a REAL cold air intake.

With all that said, there really isn't a ton of difference between any of the intakes, including the stocker with a k&n drop in.

Im not sure what to do about an intake now. I did see pics of the S&B, they look like a nice setup. I just need the money first lol. Ill have to put some thought into it and see what happens...

How much did you spend on the TB? Does it make a big difference in power??
