Hi all,

Apparently a bunch of us are having trouble with our heat. :) All signs on my 1998 point to the heater blend motor, but my truck doesn't have one. Where that motor should be there is the bottom of the hinge but no place to mount it or any sign it was ever included. I bought a second heater box out of a parts truck and it's the same way. I have flushed the system, changed the radiator, 195° thermostat, and said about every cuss word I can think of to get this to work, but no joy. Picture one is the bottom of the box, picture two is the top. I assume the small white lever is how it's mechanically activated...

So I have a two part question. Can you give me a better understanding of what I am working with here and can that white lever strip out the way the blend motors do; and two is can someone point me to a really detailed video or tutorial on pulling the dash so I can change out the heater core?

Sounds like it. Here's a more permanent fix

It suddenly occurs to me if it's not stripped out, the bottom of that shaft should turn as well. All I need to do is have some change the heat for me... :)

Edit: That problem is solved. The bottom is spinning the full range so I guess it's just a little matter of ripping the dash out and swapping the heater core.

Mine is vacumn actuated, the line is plugged in by the vacumn pump by the front of the motor. I managed to disloged it once, and voila, only cold air no heat.
I have a 98 ram 2500 diesel, hopefully this helps you.

aha!!! (light bulb!!) Thank you Sgopus, I will be checking the vacuum lines around the engine on my 2000, I remember one line not being connected to anything, and the next time it was driven any distance by the wife....no heat. She switched from heat to cool to heat (for she is a woman...) and suddenly only cool air. Thanks again....
