So I am looking at painting my stainless steel exhaust tips black, and as many of you know, stainless is a pain to paint. If anyone has any ideas on how to paint these, and withstand the heat, please let me know.
Thanks

Heat shouldn't be to bad on the tips
They get warm but not warm enough for high temp paint
I would sand them with 320, clean them really well (I use stud called gloss off from krud litter but dawn dish soap and water will work too)
Hit them with an etching primer then the color of your choice

I have an intake torque tube that sits 2-3" from my exhaust manifold that was painted this way with duplicolor perfect match paint and have had a problem with heat after a year now

Convert, for now.
Engine
small
light sand, several coats of high temp black paint, decent drying between coats...let them dry overnight before re-install.

Try flame proof paint from vht, holds up to 2000 degrees, if you cure it properly and that info is on the can and there site

They won't get that hot
Plenty of people plastidip there tips with out problems
I'd be more concerned about it chipping from road debris and etching primer will give you the best adhesion

On the other hand I sprayed my stock tailpipe black a few years ago with barely any prep and it's still looks good (could just be soot anymore though)
