Hi all, I thought I would share my fabricated shift knob I did a few months back. It came out better than expected ( though most people don't notice it). I am now thinking of doing the4x4 transfer knob to match. Overall its pretty easy to do with sharp tools and a lathe. Blanks in acrylic can be found a Penn industries in a host of colors ( get the bird call blank).IMG_0823.jpg

That looks real sweet! And I'm loving the wood grain look! You should post a pic of your whole dash!

He has a 2nd gen. A 94-97 dash.
Problem with ours is where the OD button is. If someone can figure out how to set up that button on the dash maybe like the older dashs it would be awsome.

It could be done. I kinda like my od off on the shifter though. Out of the way. I would like to replace mine one day with a nice custom piece.

Its nit that difficult, we did it on my buddys Dak r/t, just pop the shift knob off, clip the wires, pry the end off with out breaking it. Find a spot to put it and drill a hole in the panel, epoxy the little cover into the hole, and re conect the wires.

The dash kit is from Dr Dashman, in oxford burl. Easy install and excellent customer service. I have heard of some people putting LED lights in side the knob (esp if the OD is there and wites are allready snaked). Probable looks great. With all the mods I have done this one is up there as one of the best as it was custom from start to finish, even though most people do not notice it. I got the idea in this forum. Unfortunately I just had my transfer case die while on a beach. I got home ok but the truck moves like crap. More time and money. t some point Ill post the full dash, seat redo, and carpet pics. I also plan on a door panel redo to match the seats but Ill wait till I am up and running again. Thanks for the compliments.

If anyone wants a shifter for an auto to play with so they don't mess up their old one I still have the one from my old truck when I did the manual conversion. Is sitting on top of my tool box in the garage
