I have a 2000 model dodge ram 1500 4x4 extended cab with a 5.2 liter engine automatic transmission. I have to replace the entire wiring harness that goes underneath the hood because it was chewed up by a dog. Will the harness off of a 97 model work that has the same engine and transmission.

I believe the obd2 crossover for our trucks was in 1996 so 97 should be obd2. Therefore it should work with the 2000 pcm. I'm not sure if there were any big differences between those computers and the 98+ pcm. But assuming you can get that 97 harness for a cheap price id say go for it

dont THINK they are the same.. however that doesnt mean they wont work.. i know the injectors were different between a 97 my dad had (parts truck) and my 00 dont mean it can be spiced in just a different plug..
imo id go with the same year as truck or as close as possible
