I'm back at it again hauling large loads of firewood again...

attachment.php

One of those last minute runs to the woods to pick up a load. We had rode the ATV up the day before and looked around and found several places for firewood. But I was wanting to get some red fir for the pile so out came the saws and start bucking up rounds. I got a tidbit of video I got to process out later on... But I had to share my of use and our prize for the evening...

Well... I just got back from a James place cutting up a elk and wrapping it... As soon as he gets here I'll be heading out to cut another load... Matter of fact James just rolled in the yard... It's going to be a long day..

I'm back with even bigger load...

The stick on the tree is 16" measure stick to give you an idea f the pure size...

How do you all get the big wood loaded in there ? I would love to see a pic of your bed empty .. this is what a CTD is meant to do for for sure .

Love the pics and videos !

How do we get the wood in there... We lift it... That's why I have a friend along to help lift all this in the bed of the truck. Another reason why my truck isn't lifted and doesn't have large tire because that just means you got to lift the wood higher yet...

Here is the bed empty...

This is what I bought my truck for... To haul things!

Even with climbing up about 20 miles of road into the back country from 1,800 ft to nearly 8,000 ft elevation load up over 1 cord of red fir in the back of the trick and haul home and still get 15.7 MPG for the day...

Then later on split this all up...

We are guessing just wood weight is about 3,000# roughly. It was not dry wood either it was slightly damp and the half cut round I would guess at 150# a piece it made me grunt to even lift them...

I was flat on the overloads very little bounce to the truck. Took me over 1 hour to drive 20 miles down hill riding the exhaust brake most of the way down in 2nd gear.

I could get crazy and bring the trailer with me too...

Go Big Or Go Home... I just went home Big...

That's cool... (Right On!)

Well I did it again today just rolled home with another fat load and it now comes to 4 cords in the yard (roughly calculating). Now I get the dirty job of cleaning the truck inside and out. Put the topper back on... Fix a small oil leak on my Frantz Filter (o-ring gone bad). Then check the wheel bearing on the trailer (Jayco) and hitch it up by about Wednesday we figure and get some R & R...

Oh by the way... That last tree was a 2 1/4 truck tree there is just about 30 foot of the tip left on the ground... (No pics today)

Still going home BIG...
