Hey I have a question... I got a "low coolant" message on my dash and I went under the hood and found a reservoir that holds "OAT COOLANT". What the heck is that!? Is it different than the lime green antifreeze I know of?

The newer trucks use a G-05 coolant. Yes it's different, yes it can be expensive, no do not dump green prestone old school antifreeze in there. Everybody has their own opinion but I don't even like generic G-05. At my shop I have a whole shelf of Honda, Subaru, Toyota, VW, mopar and GM specific OEM coolants for topping off with oil changes.

Oh one more thing, does this get consumed like DEF fluid or is it supposed to last like what I'm my radiator? I'm asking because my truck is a 2013 and 2 years later it's low. The funny thing is that I only get the low warning when the temperature drops.

The dealership will definitely have it, and it is your regular antifreeze. The newer blends of metals They use in modern engines require more specific anti corrosion additives and lubricants and thus coolant requirements change pretty frequently these days. Chrysler was actually a late adopter to the whole concept. And no, just like normal antifreeze, you shouldn't expect regular consumption.

it is probably due to the mosture on the sensor freezing. After your engine heats up and you restart, does the light still come on? I had the same issue with my PoS italian car (VW 1.0L Lupo)

Once the engine warms up the message goes away

I picked up some of the coolant today. I'll put it in the truck in the morning. Fyi, a regular container of coolant is $12.99. The dealer parts department charged me $26.30 for the OAT.
