Does anyone here use service ramps to raise their truck for oil / fluid changes, etc. and if so what kind do you use for your truck?

Thanks, I ordered the RHINO GEAR 11912 RAMPS (16,000 LBS. GVW, PAIR) today. I think these should serve me well with my 07' Ram. :)

I just crawl under my ram, damn thing sits plenty high enough. When I am working on the wifes Tahoe (2wd) or one of the kids cars I have an old set of steel ramps that have served me well for about 20 years now.

I have a plastic set from orillys I use for my wife's car. They work great and would handle the truck no problem. One thing I recomend is get some with the rubber square on the bottom in the front. I keeps the ramps from sliding out when your going up them. My dad has a set we use for the race car and we have to chalk the ramps to keep them from moving, not a issue on fwd vehicles but a pain with rwd. Also these ramps are very sturdy we use them to pull the back of the trucks up on to give the trailer a better angle for loading the car, we had the back of my dads 3/4 with a 39ft goose neck that had had a diesel generator and a massive tank on the front And the didn't even make any sounds.

Lastly be carefull if you use the ramps in your garage with your ram it'll be close to hitting the roof on the garage door, haven't tried it on mine but just something to keep in mind.

I have some old steel one's that I've had longer than I can remember. It would be easy enough to make a set by stacking progressively shorter lengths of 2x6 boards though.

A foolproof way to keep those ramps from sliding...
Cut a couple lengths of rope long enough to attach to the ramps and reach the rear tires.
As the truck approaches the ramps, the rear tires drive on the ropes and keep the ramps from sliding!:naughty:
I know... genius!

I am not a fan of ramps, I feel they take away too much work space under the vehicle I am working on. So for decades I have used jack-stands.
