Me playing around with a projector

Just in case anyone wondered about how a bixenon projector creates the high beam - here you go!

When you hit the highs, that little solenoid triggers, and pulls down the cutoff shield. Shamwow - you have a high beam! :005:

Matt - think about it this way - if you take a REALLY thin piece of metal and a VERY bright light against it - at the ends it will curve. With the curve built into the metal here, it keeps it straight.

That's awesome. So on a set of projector'd headlights you don't even have a high beam bulb separate anymore, correct? The projector takes care of both.

The high bulb remains, but is pretty much useless since the projector kicks its ass.
