Hello all. I'm new to the forums and just purchased a '16 Ram 1500 express with the Hemi. I've already done some cosmetic mods to the truck ( rims, racing stripes). My next step is to add some performance mods. Im looking for more horsepower and better sound from the exhaust. Im very handy ( im a carpenter), but an idiot when it comes to understanding engines. Any suggestions on fairly easy things I can do to get better performance/sound from the engine? . Thanks. Btw , this is a great forum !

Maybe the v6 engine fan mod....
No point in a tuner yet cause the 16's codes are not doable or some bs..From what i saw here you have to spend atleast a grand for a diablo trinnity AND a diablo ecu...OR send your trucks ecu into them to match with a tuner...If you did that then there might be issues for further ram updates with a mopar dealer..
Still not sure why you have to send your ecu to them, why not just let out the tuner that would do what diablo does to your ecu..Dont know all the tech stuff about it..

A good CAI(its debatable if it works or not for performance without other in/ex mods)
Headers..
Throttle body(see tuner stuff up top)

Lotsa fellas here that know wayyyyy more than either of us and it depends on how quick/fast ya wanna go and how deep into the bank account your digging..

Tuner hands down is best bang for buck even for the 2015+ trucks. It'll get you way more power and continue to give as you add more performance parts such as headers. Exhaust is easy, mufflex, magnaflow, MBRP, ect all offer many different setups. I'm running the mufflex delete. Lots of people like lots of different setups.
Welcome to the performance pages. Look forward to seeing your truck grow in HP and torque.
I highly recommend Matt with Moe's Performance for a vendor as he carries lots of different parts and also runs them on his truck which is the fastest 4th Gen Ram currently.

Like said, tuning is the best upgrade you can do to the truck. Yes, it is $500 more expensive for the 2015+ trucks, but it still gives you more hp/dollar than any other mod you can buy for the truck.

Honestley i have the diablo trinity i didnt notice any diffrence (butt dyno) but it raised the rpm etc but i like it for its features saving a custom tune put the stock tune back when ever you want reading trouble codes etc , soon ill dyno the truck with the diablo 91 vs a custom tune with the same parts

I would check with your tuner, whoever you use, cause I drove my truck back to the dealer with stock tune last month and could notice a huge difference. And that's on the lowest tune offered by Hemifever.
Touch base with your tuner and they can help make sure it's being installed correctly. That's a common issue.
Have a good weekend!!

Engine needs to breathe better, open up the exhaust system.

Tuner (with the ECM) offers the best power increase, as others have said. The exhaust will only help a lot if you do headers too. If you do just the exhaust, and not headers, you'll get minimal help (unless you find sound valuable, then it may be worth more to you).

I was on a Jeep forum once (wife has a 2014 Grand Cherokee) where a guy spent $1100+ on a complete exhaust system for his Grand Cherokee (no headers), and after dyno, it only gave him about 7 HP. Now granted our exhaust systems are different than a Grand Cherokee's, but the point still stands.

I got a Diablo trinity Tuner for the 5.7 with a Jay Greene tune. It will break back tires loose at a 15 MPH kick!! The Diablo tune is nice but 93 octane Jay Greene tune ROCKS!!

Thinking about getting a DiabloSport i2 tuner but cannot be sure which custom tune to get....Hemifever or Jay Greene....grrrrrr....frustrating. Jay Greene tune is more $, but he claims it's "safer".

Safer in what way? Hemifever is tuning thousands more hemi trucks than any other tuner in the country. You have nothing to worry about in regards to reliability with hemifever's tuning.

I guess the way he was talking...."safer" as far as engine or transmission damage but obviously I knew it was biased. I am most likely going with Hemifever though.

Im not ready to plunk down a grand on a tuner and ecu just yet...Thats a grand usd, then coverting it to cdn, shipping and duty..Just a tad to much yet..
$1000 usd is $1292 cdn..Add roughly $100 usd($130 cdn)to ship and maybe a cpl hundy cdn for duty..Im into $1600 range...Nope the few extra hp and torque will have to wait..Although im debateing on a cold air/throttle body and underdrive pully..Yes i know that more than the tuner and ecu cost...

I knowww,im allowed to dream..

Headers, exhaust, CAI, underdrive pulley then tuner. I went with:
BBK shorty headers
Flowmaster exhaust with super 40 muffler
K&N cold air intake
ATI underdrive pulley

Still deciding on which tuner to get.

I can say Hemi-fever is very unprofessional and not helpful what so ever from my bad experience with Sean @ hemi-Fever or the Another forum that Sean is the admin staff at! I do not and would not recommend either of them. Jay Greene is very Good at what he does and very professional with great assistance before and after the purchase of his tune. For me Jay was well worth the extra 20 or 25 bucks.Jay is not a Vendor only a member and a very Knowledgeable, helpful one who cares to help all.

Its about the $ for Sean @ hemi-fever. Has nothing to do with an a second opinion or assistance to help you. If you post any opinion or help on the Another forum its will be censored if it does not benefit their wallets! That in my opinion is not what a forum is all about.

The Trinity Tuner if this helps works great and has many features on it I did not use. My intent was to install the Canned Diablo tunes with additional tune from from Jay Greene. After tuning I placed the tuner in console until next tune is wanted. If you want a larger monitor that will offer more than what I was doing such as 1/4 times, maps,Codes and such the trinity works well for that too. You could say in my case I really never needed the Trinity. The canned tunes work well to include the tow tune. Jay Greens tune is awesome addition to already great canned tunes. Wow! I know very little about tunes and tuners. Jay helped with all that and made it simple. Just for my own satisfaction I have put the the factory tune back on truck with no issues. Then went back re-installed or Programmed the Diablo tunes and Jays back on it with no issues. One Item you need to pay attention to from my research with tunes is the proper octane for each tune at fuel pumps and stay away from Ethanol. Hope that helps all who is thinking of a tune on a 2014 model. My understanding is the 15 and 16 model changes are different. Jay would be a great source to talk to about those models I'm sure.

Hey man, sorry I've offended you. I don't moderate anything on the other forum so I don't know what you may or may not have said. Let me know what your name is so I can look up our previous conversations as I'm in the dark here.
