So do you guys think my Redline C+ ATF would be a good oil for my transfer case? Nothing more, just the C+atf.

I thought the same thing. Who knows what they are actually going to do. I can say that they better well know how many people will be disappointed if they take our hemi's away. Its a very old and trusted name.

I hope they change their minds.

might be an EPA thing. the semi wont able to meet the mpg and pollution specs due out in a couple years. not their choice.

After Hemi395 proved my thoughts a week or 2 ago. With the showing of the 2 Mopar ATF fluid bottles side by side.

I would say your are perfectly safe and would be adding a Far Superior Fluid.

I don't think we'll see the end of the 6.4 Hemi anytime soon. The 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks aren't EPA mandated. The 5.7 however will probably disappear unfortunately. However I'm not sure how a twin turbo V6 will pass emissions better than a NA V8...

By the time it's financially feasible for me to get another truck in about 8-10 years I'll be looking at a 3/4 ton anyway.

i believe the EPA is almost done destroying diesel engines and will be mandating HD trucks in the next set of regs.

I have posted some of this before I have not seen this full version of his.
Grab yourself a pot of coffee a good breakfast and your recliner and sit back and read if you like a lot of good information here.

I printed it out so I would be able to have it forever. Add it to your favorites/book mark it-- whatever always kind of cool to go back and read information like this.

0W oils have been my weight of choice for many years & will be into the future.

Some good concepts in chp1

"More confusion occurs because people think in terms of the oil thinning when it gets hot. They think this thinning with heat is the problem with motor oil. It would be more correct to think that oil thickens when it cools to room temperature and THIS is the problem."

We left off discussing that a 0W-30 grade oil is not thinner than a 10W-30 oil. They both have the same thickness at operating temperature. The 0W-30 simply does not get as thick on cooling as the 10W-30. Both are still way to thick to lubricate an engine at startup.

Maybe we should be running a 0w-30 instead of 5w-30? Especially in. Colder climates? Any thoughts...how much difference in thickening when cool.

I keep reading on....and discussing with you fine folks.:happy107:

Personally I prefer 5w oils over 0w simply because some 0w oils have a slightly lower hths and viscosity at 100C. Plus most synthetic 5w weights are good down to at least -35F which is way colder than it gets where I live. Any 5w oil will work fine for a vehicle that doesn't see this kind of cold. Below that a 0w should definitely be used.

I'm only running RL 0w30 right now because its slightly thinner than RL 5w30 and to be honest I was still nervous about MDS and 30wt. Now that I know it's fine on a 30wt I'll be running a 5w30 in the spring.

Hemi: I agree any 5W Synthetic will be a perfect fit until the temps drop well into the -30*F mark. Then I would seriously be thinking about the 0W.

It's all personal preference.
If I lived in California/S. Texas/Florida I just might run 10W-30 Synthetic. There are a few that show a lot of impressive #s.

I really would like to talk with first hand with an owner who actually had a CEL or MDS malfunction with a 30Wt oil or thicker.

I mean how hard is it for a disgruntled member who dislikes myself or us who are Not Followers & creates a fake user name and visits and cries wolf about a CEL while just after pouring in a 30Wt oil for the first time. Any one can do this then disappear.

I can create a new account tonight after work & show up & ***** & moan about how I listened to all our advice & did my oil change with 5W-30 and right at start up received a CEL & call us all kinds of names then vanish! This normally stirs up all the other large crowd of followers!

I for one have never personally talked to any Ram owner who has have this happen. Believe me I have had a lot of PM from members within this forum actually Thanking me for posting my thoughts on 30Wt/40wt oils. They made the switch with a quieter/smoother running 5.7L! 3/4 of these owners never post in the Synthetic thread.

I've thought this same thing for a couple years now .
Too many of us have ran 30 - 40 wt oils in these 5.7s with no mds issues at all for anyone to be concerned by now
