where can i find the tow capacity of my truck i went on rams websight and typed in the vin number and it said it couldnt be found the only number on the door sticker is gvwr of 6900 lbs.

its a 16 tradesman with chrome bumper and grille package quad cab 6.4 bed with 3.92 and limit slip. i did swap wheels and tires to ones off a big horn so there painted 20s not the stock 17s.

they list 1500s tow capacities between 8,100 and 10,200 which is a huge difference.

Direct from Ram's website

If yer truck is 4x4, it's 1502 payload, 10300 max towing

if it's a 4x2, then it's 1716 payload, 10650 max towing

use this website, then look at the chocies above the models, that's cab/chassis/drive etc, and under the model listing below it, there's an option for gearing

RAM Trucks - Towing & Payload capacity

This is assuming 5.7 hemi & 8 spd trans.....since you didn't say

On your door, there will be a tag, with all your weights.

Your going to be right on the edge with that ting f-250 6.0 is going to be about 7200-7800lbs pending the configuration and a trailer big enough to handle that truck will be about 2500-2800 lbs. I'm kinda leaning towards a tow truck rather than a dolly if your paying for a dolly a tow can't be much more.

only gvwr was listed and the tire pressures thats it.

welp got it there he said his trailer only weights 1900lbs and i guessed the truck is like 7000 so i said lets do it if that sight is right a like 10k it should be semi safe. probably nerver want to tow something that heavy again but it worked for the 50 mile trip.

thanks for the help.

I think you're a bit high with that number. F-250's are only about 6,300lbs.
Depending on the size, type, and age of the trailer, car haulers can be as little as 1,500lbs empty. The heavier ones with wood planking are still only a little over 2,000lbs.
So total weight should be well within tow capacity, depending on the year and model of Ram he has.

If it's a newer Hemi with 3:92's, his max should be around 10,300lbs.
Even with the trailer he shouldn't be much more than 80% of tow cap.

Trailer brakes are must though.

2wd reg cab is 6300 crew cab 4x4 is 7200 curb weight doesn't count anything people normally carry. Straps tools supply's ECT I know I carry couple hundred pounds with my bak flip and box. So I was a tad high but mostly depends on th configuration.
