I hand wash most of the time. But, during the colder months, I use a drive through car wash near my work. It's always done a pretty good job at cleaning my truck. I've never had an issue with scratches or paint problems.

Hmm. Been taking my vehicles through car washes for 20 years. No issues with swirls. White & Silver mainly.

Had a power antennae break once because I forgot to lower it.

I went to an automatic car wash the day after I got my truck, picked up some deep scratches near the drivers side rear cab area just above the bed. Had to be the spinning brush type device. Never going back to that type again. The type that just sprays is fine if I just want a quick spray off.

I would be surprised if there were not a some around with so many people out there. There are few out in the prairies.

You know what, a couple weeks ago I did try it out. I had to pull the mirrors in though or I wouldn't have been able to get out! It was a litttle scary lol

I go through them - yes I noticed some swirl marks, but I just do not have the time to wash the truck. I pay $24 a month and get to have it washed, hand dried, and tire shined as many times as I want. I figure having the truck clean on a weekly basis is worth a few swirl marks you can only notice when sun hits it perfectly.

Those little quick ones.....like at Costco, gas stations, etc, scratched my truck once. I used the bigger car washes now.

Prior to my last Ram 1500, I had a BMW 328i in black. It showed every little scratch (but we all know black shows scratches very easy).

I think that silver and white does a good job at hiding swirl marks or scratches. I will not take my new Ram to a car wash unless it is touchless (new ram is black).

I live at an apartment, so unfortunately I can not wash my truck in the parking garage. :flame:

I've only not hand washed my truck once.

I had no choice one day and drove through a very dirty muddy road. Went to eat and the mud dried. I just couldn't stand it. Was 30-40 minutes from home and had other things to do that day. So took it to a big car wash. Everything was fine except it ripping my antenna off.

Now I do take my wifes car to the cheap ones by the house and never have any problems.

I have a subscription at the local car wash 39.99 a month for unlimited silver washes, which is full detail in and out, i posted the link on what it shows. Autopia Car Wash

I have been going for over a year, have noticed ANY damage to my truck, they do a good job. Im tempted to upgrade to get it waxed, but i bet there wax is crap

I hand wash my truck every time because I don't want to chance the auto wash. Plus, I have plasti-dip done and don't want it coming off. This was all before I lifted it of course because now, I just won't fit. ;)

But before, I had used them on my daily driver's and really never had a problem. I like touchless for a quick spray off.

I have dip, and its held up for about a year, and still hasnt peeled. I take it to get washed about 2-3 times a week

That's what I go through is the touchless, or should say used to go though lol. I'd never go through one of the spinning ones, especially with black!

Unless you pre wash your truck with the brushes that are at the touch less car wash, they don't clean worth a ****. I don't wash my truck very often at all, maybe once the weather stabilizes, but for now it's once a month max. Had been 2 months before my last one that was about 3 weeks ago. 7 dollar exterior only, cleans exceptionally well and they hand dry it.

Car wash, soft cloths that flop around, not spinning brushes. Hand wash some but mostly the car wash. Never had any problems.

I love my truck but...it is a truck.

When you all say "touchless" you are talking about the automatic car washes that go around the truck but use no brushes? I go to the handheld wand car wash here, foam pre-wash, high pressure soap, high pressure rinse, then pull out the big microfiber towel and dry it off. Would it be safe to wax by hand then?

I use the touchless all winter once a week, during the rest of the year I hand wash at home or just use the normal by hand car wash.
Have not seen a automatic car wash with brushes for years around here they are for the most part all touchless now.
