A few weeks ago it was in the teens.
I pulled the hood cable from the inside in order to release the hood.
Did what I had to do under the hood and tried to close the hood back.
It just slammed and bounced back up from the latching mechanism.
I was able to manually move the latching mechanism but I noticed the hood pull on the inside was stuck in the released position (When you pull it out and it doesn't snap back in place as it should) and I couldn't get it back to the proper position.
I used cable ties to secure the hood.
Warmer weather came and the interior hood release lever snapped back into place.
The cable ties are the workaround but anything I can do to prevent this situation when the next cold wave hits?

Is it the pull/latch in the cab that is sticking? Or the latch on the hood? If its the hood it just needs more grease... happened to me, and even if it worked the mechanical sensor wouldn't let the remote start work, always said "hood ajar" so for 33 bucks off ebay just got a new one.

You likely have some moisture in you hood release cable. When it gets cold it freezes and gets sticky. Spray the cable end at he hood latch with some moisture-repelling lubricant, and work it a few times to help the lubricant penetrate up the cable and displace the moisture.

Mine had a broken latch return spring. Couldn't see it through all the rust. Went on Amazon (seller: Mopar) and got a new one for $70. Works like a charm and took less then 10 minutes to fix

This is most likely the problem you experienced. I agree with getting some good lube in there. Just keep in mind that if it's cold enough, even the lube could freeze or become sticky.

I just replaced both latches for the hood, the one on the hood and the one on the radiator support. Both OEM Mopar parts that I found on ebay.

Lower latch: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162501895858

Upper (on the hood): https://www.ebay.com/itm/251461971859

I just replaced the lower. The upper was fine. I don't deal with eBay. I find Amazon more reliable and eBay sellers generally buy from Amazon and drop ship anyhow.

My upper latch bar was worm about a 1/4 of the way through and was causing the hood to bounce around some when driving. That's why I went ahead and replaced it. The lower was also showing some wear.

This was the old upper latch.
