Those with the Mag-Hytec or similar, how much did it help with temps. I'm still keeping an eye on transmission temps, the highest I've seen so far it's 177*. I expected higher temps with the 3000 stall but we haven't got above 90* outside yet. I'm just playing things out in case I need to go that route.

I am curious what is expected temps with it, too. Sadly, I did not baseline my temp prior to the swap to my Mag pan.

Of course I didn't pay much attention to my temps before the converter swap. I want to say it would get up to 150*and maybe a little higher, but I don't know for sure. If it drops the temps a good 15* or more it'll be worth it. Casual driving just a little bit ago for about 25 minutes put the temp around 160* and it was only 77* out.

Some 6 speed trucks have a thermostatic bypass valve that cuts flow to the cooler until it warms up to somewhere around 170. If you have that a MH pan won't do anything for cooling.

Mine doesn't have that valve and it used to hover around 145 in the summer heat just driving around unloaded. With the MH pan and Redline C+ it's around 150 or so towing my 4000lb camper in the summer.

I saw the bit of discussion about the bypass valve and I do not have one. Took another drive for and 30 minutes, it was 83 out and it was between 165-168*.

I'd say mine dropped about 10° all the time , no more than 10° though .
I do not have the thermo bypass valve .

So in my never-ending pursuit of lowering my transmission temps, I checked the temps of both the lines coming from the transmission cooler and both seemed to be about the same temperature. I would think one would be a bit cooler than the other? Maybe I'm wrong. I just need to make sure the cooler isn't the issue here.

Is it ok to mix Redline C+ and the Mopar ATF+4?

Another update. I think I figured out part of the problem. The lower valance attachment on the Vararam was covering a good portion of the transmission cooler. I removed it and put a small shim to to uncover the cooler and it seems to be helping. It's been around 90-95 and transmission temps seem to keep between 150-163* in stop and go, and 145-155* on the highway. I'm happy with that. I've seen no noticeable change in performance with the Vararam changed up.

I'll say yes , because when I did a pan drop , filters change and installed a Mag-Hyteck pan with a drain . Topped off with Redline C+ .
I ran that mixed with the factory fill for a while , drained out via the Mag-Hyteck drain plug , topped off again with Redline C+ , ran that for a while and did the same once again all in an attempt to get all the FF out .

I've had zero issues with this method and I'm confident I'm close to 100% Redline C+ ATF now [emoji106][emoji106]

Thinking about getting a Vararam but if it blocks part of the trans cooler then I'll probably pass. Do you have any pics of what you removed?

Here's a few. Removing the piece that hangs down over the cooler seems to have helped a good deal. We've been in the mid to high 90s for a week or so and my temps haven't gotten to 170* in all driving conditions, usually 165ish*. Sorry for the lack of cleanliness. Haven't had a chance to clean things yet. 225ba3ff6245865cfceea3bda7263019.jpg64f17867b8332e1d0e9c2528e6c0e72d.jpgf0a61d48630cf809d60cc6a4affd4243.jpg665d2bb3e9a34636b8489f24d3e6782d.jpg1cc4a2ebe37e68d8d8e712698a4ed775.jpg

That's just was I was looking for thanks! Looks like it would still direct a lot of air to the Vararam. Seems kinda pointless to have that piece on...

I don't have a Vararam YET [emoji16], but from other pics I've seen I'm pretty sure that piece you removed was installed improperly based on other photos I've seen . I believe it's supposed to go straight fwd ....not down blocking the coolers ?

When it was installed, I didn't have it straight down, I only placed it there to take the pics just now. All the pictures I've seen have it angled down like I had it.

Not to get completely off topic but you like the Vararam? Are you tuned?

I do. There's a noticeable improvement mid to high RPM range. I have both HF and Greene tunes.
