Here are the torque numbers for those who want an idea of how much it will change towing feel.

That is really interesting info. I'm actually quite jealous. I'm also curious what the torque management is like. My truck with the 6.4 (3.73) does not feel like full engine torque is available until I hit 3rd gear, but it is probably just my imagination.

One of the reports I read said they did away with the 3.42 on the CTD (thank goodness) so it's going to be 3.73 or an optional 4.10. That will bump those numbers up some more.

I was surprised it was the 8HP75 and not the 95. Wonder what the official torque rating will be in the HD.

It's possible they got the name wrong. It was rumored that the HD ZF transmission was going to be an 8AP Powerline version. It possible that's still in the works for the Cummins.
The 8HP75 is capable of 550 ft.lb of torque, I doubt the 6.4 HD engine will be tuned for over that any time soon.

Yes that is what I interpret too. Here is the new 2019 Towing Guide. Only 3.73 and 4.10 listed as options for the CTD.

The 8-speed behind the hemi should make for a much more pleasurable towing experience especially at lower speeds. I'm very curious how RAM will program it and whether they allow the 6.4 to rev with the new 8 speed behind it.

Doesn't appear to be so. Pulled from the FCA press release:
2019 Ram Heavy Duty 8-Speed TorqueFlite Transmission. (Ram).
In a first for the Ram Heavy Duty, the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 comes mated to the proven and smooth-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic. There are more than 40 individual shift maps to optimize shift points for fuel economy, performance, and drivability. The transmissions use shift-by-wire technology, eliminating a mechanical linkage between the transmission and the gear selector. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty gas models get Rams innovative rotary shifter mounted on the left side of the instrument panel’s center stack – freeing up space traditionally occupied by a console or column-mounted shift lever.

Here is some MPH data. It may be off a little if Ram has tweaked the gear ratios in the ZF trany.

I used the following gear ratios

66RFE 3.231 1.837 1.410 1.000 .816 .625
ZF8HP75 5.000 3.200 2.143 1.720 1.314 1.000 .822 .640

I wished he'd hurry up then I could get his headers----LOL
Jay

I'm really hoping the old headers still fit on a new truck. Probably a pipe dream.

Some nice improvements; cool that they offer a Power Wagon in Tradesman trim.

I cannot wait to test drive a 6.4/8 speed/4.10 combo truck!

Just wait until they run that combo up the Ike.............you wont hear a peep from any GM guys and their 6.0’s after that happens............

And for what it’s worth, a power bump would have been nice but with the 8speed it will Likely feel like the truck got one.
