My dad had bought a 2018 3500 6.4 with 3.73’s said:So did they give him a cash refund??
I'm still wondering why people expect more than low to mid teens from these rigs. For the life of me I really can't. There hasn't been a heavy duty/super duty rig with a gasser that was ever known for getting anything but craptastic fuel economy. Decades of established experience should set expectations of 10-15mpg at best in mixed driving. Be very happy when we get 15-17mpg. IF someone wants more consistent 15-20mpg, get a diesel and all that comes with them.
These rigs have the aerodynamics of a dumpster, 100lbs of wheel and tire, and we love to add more rubber and weight in the form of larger tires, which exacerbates the aerodynamic challenges by adding more height along with the heavier rolling mass of more rubber. Even stock these things off highway are 11-13mpg rigs, highway 14-18mpg with most common efforts in the 15-16.5mpg range.
The new 2019 is slightly better with the new 8sp but again, dumpster, weight and a powerful gasser.
But what do I know, just been driving this thing for 5 years.....lol
