1C means the vehicle is built for FCA US (Fiat Chrysler of America, USA). They would both have the same first two characters.

2C = Canada, 3C = Mexico

The C means Dodge/Chrylser
My radio came out of a 2016 U.S. sold 2500 and the first letters of that Vin# is 3C. My truck is a U.S sold 2014 1500 and the first two letters are 1C. I thought the 1500 was built in Mexico but not sure about the 2500. I always assumed one was 1C and the other was 3C because one was a 1500 and the other was a 2500.

US sold, but if you check the window sticker I bet it says "assembled in Mexico" vs "assembled in US".

Makes sense.

The first number isn’t where they were built FOR, but where they were assembled. 3C’s are built in Mexico, so that would be the HD’s and the regular cab 1500’s.

And even if your radio is a transplant from another vehicle?

Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Not sure about that. It might not get it OTA in that case. You will be able to manually download it now though so you can do it that way.

Pretty sure transplant radios will never get an OTA. I know for sure that my transplanted RA4 never even got the prompt for this update.

Yeah that's why I was asking. I haven't received any update notifications. My version is below with my RA3 radio. 8d2e17ad9a9849c77d118af08d1031f4.jpg

For those of you with confirmed 13-17 USA ram RAx radios ... The v18.45.x update files for Vp3-NA and VP4-NA and info are added to post 3 ... Please read the info carefully and USE AT YOU'RE OWN RISK !!

It looks like some of you on SW before v17.x may need to update first before installing SW version 18.45 01.

See my 8.4 Ra4 fw info thread for files I have available.

** What this will do to you 13-15 RAx radio people with v17.11.01 using both the bu cam and cargo cam I don't know. ** Perhaps updating from 17.11.x with the v18.45.01 will preserve the extra camera input ??? (vs going to 17.43.x and then to 18.45.01).

FYI - Windows Compressed Folders (the default handler for .zip files) seems to have an issue with this file...I think its the naming but Im not sure.

7-zip, a free open source 3rd party compression utility, does not have an issue. If you install 7-zip and open the zip file through the UI it will open with out errors. If you open it by right clicking and choosing Extract ... it will show a warning but extracts without issue.

OK, stupid question here.

I've downloaded MPGRIMM's new v18.xx.xx file, moved to thumb drive, and am ready to pull the trigger on the update.

BUT, am I right in that previously, all different year models of the RA3's and RA4's have had different files for each year?

If so, is the current, v18.45.01 file here for download correct for ALL the recent year models, or ...?

Thanks for all you guys do for us igmo's. I really appreciate it.

BTW, my truck is a 2017 RAM Laramie 4WD CC SB.

Yes. It appears the 2 files are the update for 13-17 Ra4 VP4-NA and 13-17 RA3 Vp3-NA radios. Make sure you are on one of the listed/compatible versions before the update!

Thank you all for your persistence with tracking down these update files and thanks Mike for uploading them! I have a transplanted RA3 [on 17.11.01] that I installed last November after my RA2 took a powder. I liked it so much that I activated the GPS last year, on Christmas Day, no less. It is very convenient but I was kind of disappointed that it might stop working after less than a year.
7-Zip worked great to extract. WinRAR did not work. Will install as soon as I can.
THANKS AGAIN

I successfully updated my 2015 8.4 RA4 VP4-NA using the file that MPGrimm provided. I formated a 4GB flashdrive with the FAT32 file system and expanded the .zip file using 7zip. I copied the files to the flash drive and went to my truck. I put the flash drive in the USB port in my console and put the truck in run. (It probably should have been on, but I got a new battery two weeks ago and trusted it) After a few minutes, the screen said something like "The upgrade files are being verified. This should take 2 minutes". After the system verified the files, it asked if I wanted to start the upgrade process. I told it yes and off it went! It took about 30 minutes and when it was done, it rebooted and worked.

The radio definitely sounds more muddled than it did before. Meaning, the audio isn't as crisp as it was before.

One of the things I love about the RA4 is the sound quality over the UAQ. I'm not sure why they would have changed any of the audio settings with this update so hopefully it's an isolated incident. I just updated to the 17.43.01 so I'm going to do the 18.45.xx in a day or so.

FYI the update is available for some VINs on the uconnect website now. I did my 2013 RA3 this morning...

Here's what we have....

For the v18.45.01 RA3 file - fb9fc2043ac9c228a2805d5bfff60372

Hemi395's downloaded file matches the checksum on the one in post 3 . . . so that confirms the Ra3 Vp3-NA v18.45.01 file for 13 Rams (& should be good to 2017).

Yeah that would be kinda disappointing....maybe just a coincidence? Maybe the audio settings got reset to flat.
