I know for some odd reason costco sells h8 interstate for cheaper then h7 interstate, despite the h8 having more capacity and cca. I'm not sure dealing with what you are dealing with h8 will last longer, but it might last a little longer, for people in cold places h8 for sure is the way to go, and in hot places no downside if you can get it to fit in the tray. Curious how long you'll get. My soft oem brand got 7 years, now my replacement interstate is somewhere around the 6th year and no signs of slowing.
Yeah I have read some older posts on here that say to go with the h8 in our trucks. The price is maybe a $20 difference so I figured why not. I see you have to remove the plastic piece in the tray so A h8 will fit. I just thought I would give ot a try and I never tried a agm battery. If it works out great if not. The price for a oem battery is just as expensive so why not try a aftermarket battery for once

you asked, You do not install your own battery?

Well, do you run up set of stairs, skipping every other step ?

I no longer can.

Do you hesitate when you know that to go to a BBQ, there i a set of stairs to be climbed ?

I no longer go to those type of events.

I would no longer even try to lift a car/truck battery & walk 50 foot with it.

I started wrenching on vehicles in the late 1950s
I went into the Navy in 1962

Now i just watch Motor Trend TV & my muscle memory, helps the mechanic lift a manual transmission into place
:)

Old age is not all that bad, lovely Ladies hold a door for me on occasion.

I still climb into my Ram & enjoy the drive.

I some times find myself in a Benny Hill type situation & i have to grin.

Two weeks ago, i had to use a Walking Cane & a Walker for a few days.
Now i am back to my normal self.

Each day i wonder what tomorrow will be like :)

It has been 15 months since i last took it for a ride
In fact, i have hardly ridden it much since Mandated Helmets & Corn Gas

Just bought a new to me brand of battery charger,
its a NOCO Genius 2

I had put a brand new battery in it, about 16 months ago
It was a YUASA battery made in Missouri
I have used YUASA brand, since back in the 1980s

Aside from specialty manufacturers there are only two major manufacturers based in the US: Clarios (formerly Johnson Controls) and East Penn. Exide has a presence but is headquartered in India nowadys. Regardless of what the battery is branded as, it will most likely come from one of these three companies. It pays off to do some digging and visual comparison as prices for the same battery will vary depending on which distribution channel it came out of.

Is your truck still under the 3/36 factory warranty? My 2017 had the battery fail in 2019. I took it to the dealer and they replaced it free under warranty.

I hear ya!

At a function yesterday I answered someone with I would be 90 in October, my daughter corrected me saying, "Dad, you aren't there yet, you'll only be 89." I was happy to hear that.

Every day there's something that needs attention and I know how but my body refuses to cooperate.

Can't count how many car batteries I've replaced over the years, but have always just shopped around and found the best price on the correct size battery that was needed. That was often some house-brand battery from Wal-Mart, Autozone, etc.... They have always seemed to have lasted and performed as well as those people I know that go out of their way to get the fancy (i.e. more expensive) versions. In my personal opinion the average person gets no advantage out of spending money for AGM or other high priced batteries. Yes, they were designed for a reason as certain applications needed that technology or durability (desert racing trucks, heavy equipment under harsh conditions, etc...) but the vast majority of people simply don't need it. Just because it cost more money doesn't mean it's better. Kinda' like buying a new Corvette ZO6 and bragging how much better it is than your Chevy Malibu because it has a top speed of 195 mph.......but you will never go anywhere close to that fast, and the Malibu is more than capable of going as fast as you will ever drive down the freeway.

Even though there are two major mfgrs, there can be difference in battery grades ...per warranty differences. Many batteries may be identical but in different cases with different stickers and so on.

Some batteries are Premium and built to a higher standard (higher warranty batteries). They could include:

-Greater lead thicknesses,
-Brand new lead vs recycled,
-The final design of the plates,
-The number of plates' supports inside the battery,
-Brand new acid (or gel) vs recycled

That's why it's a good idea to compare weights in their specs (if provided), even between 'Premium' grade batteries of different companies. Some batteries can be 4-5#'s lighter than the other. The way you save weight is by pulling something out.

The Walmart flooded lead/acid batter was a duplicate to the original factory battery I took out of my Ram. Both made by Johnson Controls (at the time), same weight, same case right down to the molding marks.

Most of the AC Delco batteries (Silver Line) I noticed are made in Korea. The Silver isn't Delco's Premium battery however. I think I remember reading it's a Clarios plant there ...but that bears double-checking. I know those Silver Delco batteries are lighter weight than the other premium batteries I looked at.

If yer only getting 2-3 years out of a battery in AZ, does it make sense to buy a dirt cheap battery?

Great information, i was thinking that but they are all about the same price as the oem batrery. With my luck I would get a super cheap battery which I have not found and they it will last only one year intead of 2 - 3 years.

I do not get your reasoning. You can get a battery for 129 bucks and it has a non prorated 36 month full replacement warranty. If they turn out to only last 1 year, you get another for free. If it kacks after 2 years and 11 months, same free replacement. at a minimum you get three years, even if they only last 1 year each. Where is the down side?
