I washed my truck for the first time yesterday. What a beast! Ive never washed a truck before. Anyone have any suggestions on best way to wash the entire truck? The roof in particular. I climbed up on the nerf bars, with my wash mitt, this was a PITA. Do people use extension poles, etc... To make this easier?

Dat Cummins!
I use a three step ladder for the roof and windshield. My truck is lifted so it is a big help.

I have mine leveled in the front with just Bilstein 5100s but on 20" rims so it's just a little under 7' high.

Thankfully being 6'7" helps out with cleaning this beast as I usually just stand on the tires to clean to the windshield or in the bed to clean the roof.

I think the poster above me is telling you something about the amount of buckets to you, not quite sure...

2 bucket means you have one bucket for the soap, and one for rinsing the mitt or whatever off

I usually wash my truck by hand. I start by spraying her down all around. spray the front end with degreaser. Then clean the wheels with cleaner a degreaser. Scrub the whole front end and move down the driver side then around it.. I step on a bucket then on the tire to clean the windshield and im only 5'6. for my roof i get it when im doing the windshield and i opent the drivers door and jump in the box to clean it all.

I myself am 5'11 and i actually just washed my truck yesterday. I personally like to start on the back quarter panels of the truck and do both sides and work my way up to the front of the truck because that is where most of my grime is. Especially with a white truck the front takes way longer than any other part. As far as the top of the truck and the windshield which can be a bia I usually open my door real quick and get a good scrub. With the top of my truck the best way to go about that is just to get in the bed of your truck and wash it. Best of luck.

I jump in the bed of the truck and use the nerf bars for the rest. I found drying is a lot easier.

Soon adopting the two bucket method, but I also found a nice extention pole microfiber I use for the roof and that top center of the hood. Fun, Fun, but dang I love it when it's clean.

I bought one on Amazon. Since these aren't great at pulling dirt away from the paint, I ONLY use it on the roof and windshield. I've been trying to get Adams to design a safe tool for this job.

I'm 6ft tall and I lower my truck when I wash it. Gotta love air...

I wash / rinse / dry the roof first. I can't reach it for a ****.
I stand on the door jams to wash that evil part in the center of the windshield / front of the cab. Then I climb in the bed to get the back of the crew cab.

Quite tedious, totally worth it.

And I'm so gangster I use 3 buckets.
2 sitting in the garage and one with my soapy water. :signs8:

The truck never had perfect paint, never will.
If I ever buy a Sunday Driver sports car, I'll worry about paint correction and the like.

My truck isn't perfect either, but the two bucket method takes very little effort and helps immensely at keeping the paint decent. My truck gets leaned on to grab stuff out of the back and such, it'll NEVER be what my G8 is, and that's why it's WHITE! :headbang:

I'm a short guy (5'7") - so I use a 4' ladder to get to the center of the hood and roof.

There is no such thing as a "quick" wash like there used to be with my Dakota.

2 reason I miss my 1995 Nissan Hardbody: I could reach everything to wash it without a ladder, and unlike my truck it had killer gas millage.
Reason I got my Dodge: my Nisan could not pull my boat. Still got the Nissan but it is relegated to staying around home. Might get it registered again just to give it to my son, but that is a while away yet he is only 8.

Local Car Wash! It's illegal to wash your car/truck in your driveway here (only place I have to wash it) so no choice there.
