From a side perspective. I've read that the 3.7 and 4.7 are basically made the same. Chop of two cylinders from a 4.7 and you have a 3.7

So technically, could you estimate that a 3.7's limit would be the same as 3/4ths of a 4.7's limit? Give or take a little. Just an idea. I don't know what the 4.7 can do. Mods are just starting to become more easily available for them. Many check their part of the forums?

If you are brave, pioneer the way for everyone. It would be a killer thread to keep up with. Build up a 3.7 and see what can happen. :p

Best bang for the buck in your truck will be a set of gears. There is very little out performance internal wise for the v6 because its typically a fleet motor. You will not pick up HP with gears just pick up a mechanical advantage. Im guessing your truck has a set of 3.55's in it at the moment. If you decide to go boosted you need to first plan a way of tuning, then figure on the "safe" zone on a stock motor is 5 PSI.

I figured safe on a stock engine was around 5ish as you suspected.

However, what if it isn't stock, but a built engine with all performance parts inside?

That's the problem, everything would have to be custom made.

Are you absolutely certain that no company makes an internal performance engine parts?

for the 3.7

If not what are some sites to try?

The spacer is a waste of $$ unless its big enough to tap for nitrous and your going that route. Far as the heads I dont know alot about that company besides for the 4.7 guys have used them before for their app. To be able to add PSI your going to need to have everything fordged. A local guy near me has had everything custom built for his v6 Chally that is boosted. If funds are unlimited and you can find an engine man who will spec your internals then see what can be used "off the shelf/custom fitted" then go that route.

If you want a project truck, I would think a engine swap would be fun. The engines I would consider are the hemi of course and then there is also the V10. Since you would need to swap PCM's it wouldn't matter which engine you use. Plan well in advance....

I may have to result in an engine swap…

I would just like to keep the original engine if at all possible at just try to defy odds and make it a tank instead.

If people ask me what engine is it in and I saw a 5.7 or a 6.3 they'll be like okay, but if i can say i have 3.7 making 450ish horse than its kind of cooler..imo

hemi 5.7 supercharged at 10psi
Its hard but not impossible.
Both of my hemi engines make more than 450 hp.
My 6.4 superbee is 470hp at the crank and my 5.7 rumblebee is at 500hp.
My rumblebee has had the supercharger on it for over eight years and still runs like new.
It would prolly be cheaper and easier to build a new hemi for his truck but he wants to make his 3.7 a sleeper.

450 at the crank on a 3rd gen truck 5.7 is just a good cam/ head combo away with good tuning. Power train loss will always be the weak point on these trucks.

To the op will you be taking the truck to the track racing it or do you want power as a daily driver?

I plan on building a lot of cars in my days with the occasional restoration of something else.

My goal for the truck is to use it as a truck to drive to the parts store, or on the occasional sunny day when i need to run and get groceries really quick just get it and speed off.

To me just going fast is fun, sensible i'm not abusing the power to go 100 MPH on a freeway, but to some idiot in a rice burner at a stop light, whats the harm in spinning the tires and blinding him in smoke?

470 out of a 5.7 seems very simple, its like a 80 hp boost from stock nowadays

Out of a 09+ hemi yes.. But on a 03-08 hemi that's 120 crank hp more than stock.

An wheel horsepower is where it's at

What's the harm..... Going sideways into another car, flinging rocks and debris on the pavement into the windshield of another car behind you, not to mention the lack of traction ..... Everyone always has dreams of leaving the other guy in a cloud of smoke but the reality is if you are leaving behind that much smoke, you are just sitting still spinning the tires while the other guy is already ahead of you.

Then you gotta figure in the 26-28% drivetrain loss to get the rwhp. That 350hp motor orly puts 240-250 of that to the ground.

Amazing how fast a buzz kill comes on a thread.
Next we will here if you do 40 in a 30...we could run over a puppy...or a little kitten.
