Hey guys,
Well, the damn mod bug bit me again. This time, the project was to pull the stock fog housings and HIDs off the truck and replace them with LED pods.
Like most all of us, money is a big factor on our mods.
Now, when it comes to LED lightbars/pods...we all know the Rigid is the top of the line. But, damn they're expensive!! I know a lot of you will say you get what you pay for...but I did A LOT of research before making this purchase and came to the conclusion that Rigid lights are damn there identical to most other "china crap" lights. Yes, they modify a few things and slap their name on it, but that's about it.
Well, I did more research and stumbled upon some forums where some guys were running Sidetracked Offroad LEDs. All of them had nothing but good things to say after running them for over a year. So, I looked up the company and looked around at some of their products. Well, they certainly seemed to be quality products and the prices were definitely right for a "want" project/mod. I even called them to speak with them about a question I had and they answered immediately and the guy I spoke with seemed very knowledgeable about the products. So, so far I'm impressed. Well, for the 4 LED pods I needed for this project, it came out to about $150. So, what the hell. I pulled the trigger. I ordered them on Friday and they arrived at my door Monday (from California to Florida). So on to the pictures and more review -
They came neatly packed and here they are opened up -
The connection point seemed of high quality and proper heat shrink used.
The connection from the light -
Here's the plug that plugs into the light and the other end you wire up to however you plan on powering the light. In my case and probably yours - I ordered 9006 male plugs off Ebay to wire on the end.
Here's how it looks when done. 9006 male end wired to the end of the plug. Soldered the wires together, heat shrink, then wire loomed.
All 4 of the connections done -
To be able to run from the stock wiring on the truck to power two lights, you need a 9005/9006 splitter. Also off Ebay. Here's what it looks like wired up-
And here's a teaser shot of the lights in action -
I'm waiting on the brackets to come in. Which for those of you wanting them - here they are.

All in all, I've only got 200$ in this project. Which is way better than 500-600$ in my opinion. Feel free to comment or ask any questions you have...I'll answer them as best as I can!
