Thanks guys, I was more concerned with possible damage to the vehicle. And I later posted that I had just thrown out a number and after actually looking at how much my options weigh they are anywhere from 5 to 7 thousand Pounds.
Honestly I just threw a number out there now that I have actually looking at the weights of trailers I am considering they are averaging 6 to 7 thousand. I do have a weight distributing hitch and the truck is a qcsb 4x4.
I think I'll be fine just to get it home.

I dont know how you can possible say you dont feel it. I recently towed a travel trailer weighing 3220lbs about 9hrs on flat/small hills and the truck struggled to hold 65 and stayed in 4th 99% of the time.

In my experience with powder coating (actually doing the coating) surface prep is 90% of the work. Just like paint it needs somthing to grab on to. I would not expect powder coat to stick to our chrome bumpers as well without some roughing up.
The surface also needs to be very clean.
I know alot of people may disagree with me but I have been loyal to Craftsman hand tools and Dewalt power tools and have never had an issue.
Lately I have been doing my fair share of wood working and have grown to prefer skill saws
