    MDS question on Ram 1500 5.7 L

Has anyone ever been driving down a flat straight stretch of road with cruise control on and with mds on for 5-10 minutes, and then turned mds off for the same time, and then recorded the difference in mpg? If so, what was the difference in mpg? thx

    180 or 190 Thermostat

230F for oil is well within the operating range of oil. Max oil temp for most synthetic oil is about 280-300 F. Nothing is wrong with your oil temp. That’s why you can’t fix it. If you are concerned about 230F, put in an oil cooler. Just that simple.

    Whining noise

I used to have an awful whining noise in the front seat too…until I divorced my exwife. Now it’s complete welcomed silence.

Coolant Temperature Fluctuation, why does this happen?

Mine did the same thing until I removed some of the shutters. The temperature stays pretty constant now.

Will I regret not getting the V8 even if I don’t tow? Debating which truck to get…

That old quote comes mind when I read the post: “Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.”

This MPG is why I bought the 3.21

Interesting, it’s always been accurate and worked well in my trucks.

This MPG is why I bought the 3.21

I cruise at 26-27 miles per gallon on my 5.7L consistently.

This MPG is why I bought the 3.21

I also get this kind of gas mileage (25-27) out of my hemi about 65 mph on long stretches of straight flat interstate driving.

    AGS info on my truck

Last year I took a trip out west and the oil temp never got below 225. Often it was between 230 to 335. Once it got to almost 250. I was not towing anything just cruising the interstates. My gas mileage on my 5.7 was about 20-21 mpg. This year I partially removed the grill shutters. I had...

Active Grill Shutter "Partial Removal" Temperatures

Wild One, I often thought about the very same question. One day I was comparing different grills on cars and trucks while I was driving down the road. I noticed a huge difference in the grills of the same size vehicle with their grills. So I believe some trucks and car grills were originally...

Active Grill Shutter Fin Removal - Better Than I Thought.

Yes it does…..005 miles per gallon. Not a typo. I posted the engineer answer to that question on a recent post. Yep, that is right. .005 miles per gallon. I read what the engineer said, and my AGS came off that day.

    Ok to remove active shutters??

Not true. AGS open when a temperature is reach and closes when the temperature is below a certain degree. AGS do not remain open. Mine opens at 220 and closes soon after. The temperature drops to 190 or so only because the the cooler radiator water enters the block and it’s takes a very short...
