This MPG is why I bought the 3.21

Yeah, the 8 speed is a reliable tranny, it seems, and would work better with my 3.73 rear axle.

But that oil change process - man!

WISH I knew someone local, who could pull the limiter. (But then, have to upgrade trans, suspension, tires, heat exchangers, cam, etc etc, lmao). I have had MY 19 to almost 109 when it shut down. My 2006 Honda Wing will almost hit 160 but it is limited to 124.9. I have been at 150 in a few chases, AND that pucker factor so extreme, takes a pry bar to get yer backside outta the seat, lmao.
Unlocked PCM and a tuner is that's needed to raise the speed limiter. You don't have to change the trucks factory tune to raise the speed limiter, but if your spending the money for an unlocked PCM and tuner, you might as well update the factory tune parameters while you're at it.Raising the 8 speeds shift points makes a world of differance even with a stock tune, the factory has the shift points set at 5600 ,the ideal 8 speed shift points are about 6,000/6100 with the stock cam

My Ram is a 2012, there is no fuel economy reading. I kept track for maybe the first 30k miles when I was still impressed with myself for having a new truck. Looks like I got 18.6mpg average. I was more law abiding on the road back then. I expect my milage now is significantly worse, but don't care to find out.

I bought a Camaro SS/RS instead of a Challenger, but that doesn't mean I don't want my truck to be fun as well. You know the adage "nothing is more exhilerating than getting shot at and missed?" It's completely true. You are never more alive then when you're in a gunfight. Remember Wizard of Oz, how it goes from black and white to color? Going from a gunfight to mundane life is like that in reverse. As a result, I get bored easy, and then I get in my own head, and that's a dark and weird place that nobody ought to spend much time in. Which is why I amuse myself. I don't give two ***** about $5k in gas if it's more fun.

If a given individual can't go 2 months without a paycheck without facing bankruptcy, and I know that's a lot of people, then what gear ratio to buy shouldn't be the question they are asking themselves.

I'm in a 6 speed, but I understand the advantages of the 8 and how that can change the dynamics. And maybe those guys sucked. :D Especially in a short run, not having to shift an extra time can definitely make a difference. I would hazard that without a rolling start these trucks are much more traction limited than power or gearing limited.

And it's moot, not mute. Common mistake.
LOL both guys are very experienced drag racers, they knew how to launch their trucks. My truck was out mph'ing both of the R/T's by close to 2 mph and was a full 2/10's quicker then the fastest of the 2 R/T's,so there might be something about mine being a bit of a unicorn,as the higher mph, while carry'ing roughly 150 lbs more weight, means my truck was making more horsepower stock.FCA does have a rep of building the odd unicorn though,i have a buddy with a stock Hellcat, that runs quicker then most pulley'd and tuned Hellcats do.lol

I know it’s just a power wagon but I think it’s pretty good for a 6.4 with 4:10 gears.

I win!!!

Can you option a Power Wagon with a peanut tank? 99.9mpg you might as well save the weight. ;)

3 hours 100% freeway driving, avg of 103 km/h, with a light tail wind, MDS disabled, mix of 89 and 91 octane fuel, probably some ethanol in there but cant be certain of the amount.
You could do much better running Red Line 0W-20 and driving steadily downhill with a light breeze behind you.

Are either truck equipped with the air suspension?

On my Ram 1500, '15 5.7L QC, AT tires, canvas bed cover, Corsa exhaust, 33 gal tank, get just or a bit over 23 MPG on the highway, and as much as 16 MPG local, but rarely as I like driving :) With the air ride lowering at highway speeds, IMO, also helps a bit with MPG's.
No air suspension on either truck.

For reference the orange truck with the 3.92 was set to 2WD not 4WD. Also the trip had lots of hilly sections - Texas hill country west of San Antonio, no long distances of flat terrain.

YUP, the ole rolling down a long hill, foot off of the skinny pedal, LOL. I can get my 1500 to display also 99 if I do that, LOL... Don't we all wish our Rides would get that mileage, LOL.

Me and brother both have 2019 ram 1500s both 4x4 cc. My truck has 3.21s his truck has 3.92. I've averaged 18.8-19.8 mpg hand calculated with non ethanol 87 and 89 mostly highway at 75-80. My brother averages around 65 non highway and gets about 15 but I believe it's pedal control.

Yhea but can you do it in a 6.4 with 4.10 while towing a trailer?

Honestly, I’m happy to get double digits. Lol have to pay to play.

I cannot attest to the 6.4 since just got a lil lowly 1500 Bighorn, nothing special, LOL.
