So, I've been a bit inactive lately due to getting out of the Marine Corps and starting a new career back home. I finally found some available time to do a few things to the truck. I've added a Hornblasters train horn, Aux reverse lights, a 24" 12000 Lumen light bar and a switch panel.
I'll...
It is "wrong" because that is not how the hooks were designed to mount. You don't have the same amount of room, believe me, I tested both ways. If you trim the valance properly (Flush with the painted surface) and don't use the locator pin there is no deformation. See below.
You do realize that your hooks are on backwards.... Correct? How do you even get a rope in there?
This is how mine have been on two trucks now and work properly.
For the amount you tow and the fact that ride comfort is important to you, I'd get bags. Mine made a world of difference on my truck towing 12K+ over 1,000 miles. Like others have said, I'd opt for 1,500lb bars for longevity purposes as tongue weight can easily change and you could be at 15%.
The purchase price argument hit the nail on the head. I bought my last Ram that stickered at $45k for $36k OTD and traded it in 4 years later for $26,500 and it needed $3k in repairs.
My 2014 Stickered for $51,800 and I paid $42,500 OTD.
